Gorebridge Community Development Trust Gorebridge Community Development Trust (GCDT) is a community owned and managed independent charity, promoting sustainable regeneration of Gorebridge

The Trust carries out a number of projects to help regenerate the town; one of the main projects we are currently working on is the development of a new community hub in the centre of Gorebridge. GCDT proposes to develop a flexible, multi-purpose community hub and a cafe serving healthy, locally sourced foods. The new community hub will serve several community groups, offices for private businesse

s and have a main hall for community and cultural events. The hub will be located in the centre of Gorebridge on Hunterfield Road, which is the main route through the town. The hub will be the focus of community activity in the area located near to the library, leisure centre, football ground, parish church and care home. When completed, this section of Hunterfield Road will be seen as the social and commercial focus of the village, substantially contributing to strong, cohesive community building. It will act as a major catalyst for the regeneration of Gorebridge and is a key part of the Gorebridge Locality Plan of April 2010. The hub will accommodate:

Several charities/community groups with offices
Private business/social enterprise offices
Youth facility providing much needed space for young people
Show space for artistic/cultural events in Gorebridge
Borthwick Pipe Band
Heritage centre for the local history society to house it's growing archive
Business centre providing office space for small businesses
Conference facility attracting business and community users to Gorebridge
Venue for social events, such as weddings
Cafe serving fresh food
Soft play area

On Sunday 10 May at 3pm, Gorebridge Community Choir return to their favourite venue, Crichton Collegiate Church, for the choir’s annual ‘a cappella’ concert. They will perform a selection of our unaccompanied repertoire in the beautiful acoustic of the church.

This time Pipe Major Chris Crawford from Borthwick & District Pipe Band will accompany one item - Highland Cathedral - on the Scottish Smallpipes!

Admission is free, but as usual one must pay to get out! Donations will be to the Crichton Collegiate Church Trust, and refreshments including home baking from the singers will follow.

We are loving being able to offer a range of creative classes this year in Gorebridge (at the Gorebridge Beacon through a grant from Inspiring Scotland. It's all about trying new things, coming together, having access to activities that don't normally happen here. Starting next week is Creative Photography (using your smart phone), Spoken Work Poetry (for the writers and performers) Cartoon Art, and this Saturday there are a limited amount of spaces of left on the drumming workshop. There is even Clowning (yes, we are aware some are terrified of clowns). And it's all free. Please take a look and sign up, you would be very welcome.
