☀️ Sunshine is STILL here… let's help keep it safe. 🚒🧺

With the hot, dry weather continuing across Oxfordshire, we're seeing an increase in grass, field and wildfire incidents—many of which are preventable.

This summer, we're asking everyone to help us by making simple, fire-conscious choices.

🧺 Swap the BBQ for a picnic.
🚭 Dispose of ci******es responsibly.
🔥 Avoid bonfires during these dry conditions.
🗑️ Take your litter home.

These small decisions can make a huge difference. Every preventable fire ties up emergency crews who may be needed elsewhere in our communities.

By working together, we can help protect our countryside, our wildlife and each other.

Thank you for continuing to support Oxfordshire Fire & Rescue Service and helping us keep our communities safe this summer. ❤️🚒

During Half-Time of the England vs Argentina Semi Final, take a moment to check your smoke alarms. It only takes a few seconds, but it could make all the difference in an emergency!

Make sure you have working smoke alarms throughout your house, to help keep you & your loved ones safe. 🤝
If you’re not sure, you can book a safe & well visit from your local fire crew & they will check for you!

Send us pictures of you testing your alarms in your football kit during Half-Time!

(Thanks Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service for the inspiration on this post!).

🚜🔥 Harvest season is here – help prevent agricultural fires
Dry conditions, hot machinery and long hours in the field can all increase the risk of fire during harvesting. A few simple steps can help keep your farm, crops and equipment safe:
✅ Check weather conditions and the Fire Severity Index before harvesting
✅ Keep machinery clean, serviced and well maintained
✅ Make sure emergency services can easily find and access your farm
✅ Ensure water supplies and hydrants are accessible
✅ Have contingency plans in place, including fire breaks and water bowsers where available
✅ Store hay bales, fertilisers and pesticides safely and securely
If a fire occurs, call 999 immediately and provide clear location details.
📖 Read more in the Thames Valley Farmland Fire Safety Booklet and help keep Oxfordshire’s rural communities safe this harvest season.

💧 We're asking everyone to help take the pressure off – literally.

Some areas of Oxfordshire, particularly near Bicester, are experiencing low water pressure.

As a fire and rescue service, we know how important a reliable water supply is when responding to emergencies. While this situation isn't affecting our ability to respond, we're supporting efforts to help reduce demand during the current hot weather.
