🚒 What a fantastic day supporting the Wallingford Rally! 🚒

Today, crews from Goring and Wallingford Fire Stations were proud to support one of the area’s biggest community events, with an incredible parade of more than 300 vehicles — from vintage classics to modern marvels.

Goring Fire Crew had the honour of leading the convoy, with Wallingford Crew bringing up the rear, and it was brilliant to see so many people lining the route, waving and cheering along the way 👋

Following the parade, we had the opportunity to carry out a live RTC (Road Traffic Collision) demonstration with the combined efforts of three South Oxfordshire on-call stations:
🚒 Goring
🚒 Wallingford
🚒 Didcot

Working alongside volunteers as casualties and Geoff from Thames Valley Air Ambulance’s first response on scene, the demonstration showcased the teamwork, communication and professionalism required at incidents like these.

Today was a perfect example of what the fire service is all about — teamwork. Not only alongside our partner agencies, but between stations across Oxfordshire Fire & Rescue Service.

Could you be part of the team?

🔥 We are always looking for people to become On-Call Firefighters across Oxfordshire. 🔥

If you’re interested in serving your community, learning new skills and being part of an incredible team, we’d love to hear from you.

📩 Contact your local fire station or come along and speak to us at any community event to find out more.

🚒✨ THROWBACK THURSDAY ✨🚒

We’ve loved looking back at our Open Day and all the amazing memories from such a fantastic community event ❤️

From the RTC demonstration and emergency service displays to the raffle, BBQ, cakes and all the smiling faces throughout the day — it truly was a celebration to remember as we marked 50 years at Icknield Road.

And now… the final total is in! 👏

Thanks to the incredible generosity and support from our community, local businesses, friends, families and visitors, we are proud to announce that we raised an amazing:

🔥 £1607.49 🔥

for Fire Fighters Charity.

Thank you again to everyone who attended, donated, volunteered, supported the raffle or helped behind the scenes. Events like this simply wouldn’t be possible without the support of our community, and we’re incredibly grateful.

👀 Watch this space for the next Goring Fire Crew event…

And don’t forget — we’ll also be at the Wallingford Rally on Sunday 10th May, supporting Wallingford Fire Station throughout the day. We hope to see some familiar faces there! 🚒

🚒👏 Another Driver on the Run at Goring!

A huge congratulations to FFd Gareth Evans, who successfully passed his Emergency Response Driving Course on Friday 1st May!

This is a fantastic achievement and a really important skill for the crew — meaning Gareth can now take the wheel of the appliance when responding to incidents. Safe, skilled drivers are a vital part of what we do, so we’re thrilled to welcome another driver into the mix (and we know Keith will be especially pleased! 👀).

Gareth is waiting for his first official shout behind the wheel — but in the meantime, you might spot him out and about in Goring getting those all-important practice drives in… don’t forget to give him a wave! 👋

👉 Could you be part of the crew?
If you live or work near Goring and are interested in becoming an On-Call Firefighter, we’d love to hear from you. Drop us a message or come along to a Wednesday drill night to find out more — no pressure, just a chance to see what it’s all about.

Today we honour the courage and sacrifice of firefighters who gave their lives while saving others.

We remember them always.🕊️ 🤍

International Firefighters' Day (IFFD) is observed annually on May 4th in the UK and globally to honour the dedication, sacrifices, and bravery of firefighters, particularly those who have died in the line of duty.

Today we will remember in particular, our friends FF Jennie Logan and FF Martyn Sadler as it approaches the first anniversary of the Bicester tragedy in which they lost their lives in the line of duty.

🚒 What a day! 🚒

Saturday’s Open Day was an incredible success and we just want to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who came along to support us and celebrate with us.

It was amazing to see so many people from the Goring and wider community joining us for such a special day as we celebrated 50 years at Icknield Road ❤️

We were incredibly lucky to have so many fantastic organisations and local businesses helping make the day so special, including:

🐾 Lowland Rescue Oxfordshire (and their amazing dogs!)
🚓 Thames Valley Police
🚑 South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust
☕ Jessie’s Coffee Truck
🍦 Crown Ice's
🎶 The Mysteries
🚒 Henley On Thames Fire Station
🚒 Wallingford Fire Station

Our RTC demonstration was one of the most anticipated parts of the day and it was brilliant to have one of the first responding SCAS team involved in the drill too.

A huge thank you also goes to the incredible local businesses and organisations who donated raffle prizes, supplies and support for the event:

Goring Village Butchers, Goring Tesco, Albert Fields, Carrie Schmidt Massage Therapy, Goring Social Club, Grin & Grime, The Dolphin Wallingford, The Highwayman, Buck & Doe Co, South Stoke Village Shop, Warmingham & Co, Goring, The Springs, Fire Fighters Charity, Oxfordshire Fire & Rescue and RMT.

And finally — an extra special thank you to the families and friends of Goring Fire Crew who worked tirelessly behind the scenes. From running stalls, managing the bouncy castle, baking amazing cakes, running the BBQ, setting up, packing down and everything in between… we simply couldn’t have done it without you.

A special mention also to our recently retired Watch Manager, Sean Absolom, and his family for coming along to support the station once again — it was fantastic to see you all.

We’ll be back soon to announce how much was raised for Fire Fighters Charity, but for now… thank you.

We love being part of this community, we loved meeting so many of you on Saturday, and what a fantastic way to celebrate 50 years of Goring Fire Station at Icknield Road ❤️🔥
