Great news! We've extended the Splash Park's summer season by an extra five days, so it'll now stay open until Sunday 6 September. There's still time for children and families to make the most of the final days of summer and enjoy one last splash before the new school term begins. The Splash Park will remain open until 7pm every day until 31 August. From 1 to 6 September, it will be open daily from 10am to 6pm. Happy splashing!

Bridgemary & Leesland Skatepark repairs starting tomorrow 🛹
From Wednesday 26 August, repair works will begin on the surfaces at both Bridgemary and Leesland skateparks.

As these works are weather dependent, we currently anticipate the skateparks reopening between 2 and 4 September, subject to suitable conditions.

For everyone's safety, please do not enter the skateparks while works are taking place and follow any signage and fencing in place. This will help protect both residents and contractors and ensure the repairs can be completed as quickly as possible.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience while these essential improvements are carried out.

For further information, please contact Streetscene at [email protected]

We have submitted our Council's concerns to the Government over its plans for the Haslar Immigration Removal Centre with a call to show greater transparency and listen to community voices.

Council Leader Cllr Zoe Huggins BEM has written to the Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood asking for a community liaison panel to be set up for local people's views to be heard by the Government.

The Council has already responded to the official consultation on the proposals for the site, but that will only consider specific criteria related to the planning process.

The letter to Shabana Mahmood outlines wider concerns including resident concerns on their quality of life, sense of security, wellbeing and confidence in the future of their neighbourhood.

⚠️ Leesland Skate Park has been temporarily closed due to damage to the main concrete bowl, which has created health and safety concerns. The area has been cordoned off and warning signs have been installed - additional protective fencing will be put in place next week. We are prioritising repairs as part of our playground capital repairs programme and aim to complete the work as quickly as possible so the skate park can safely reopen. We understand this will be disappointing for users and thank you for your patience while these repairs are carried out.

🎾🏓 Exciting news for racket sport fans!
Following the success of the Pickleball in the Park sessions on the courts at Privett Park, we’re delighted to announce that two new pickleball courts will be painted on the tennis court 4 🎉

It means it will be dual use for tennis and pickleball, meaning there will be four pickleball and four tennis courts available to book, free of charge.

The new courts will be bookable through the LTA Play website from Saturday 22nd August, in the same way as the other courts are booked: https://www.gosport.gov.uk/privettpark

🏓 Please note: nets will need to be provided by the person or group booking the new pickleball courts. If you don’t have your own pickleball nets, you simply book the existing purpose-built pickleball courts which are equipped with nets.

☀️We hope you enjoy the new courts and continue to make the most of the growing sport of pickleball at Privett Park.
