🚨 Notice from Fareham & Gosport Environmental Health 🚨

Following reports from members of the public, officers inspected Haslar Lake with Southern Water and confirmed two sewage outflows discharging into the water. One outflow appears to stem from an unauthorised connection to a surface-water drain; the source of the second is still under investigation.

Immediate actions underway:
• Southern Water will tanker away all contaminated water.
• A temporary b**g will be fitted to stop further discharge.
• Drainage will be correctly reconnected to the mains sewer.
• Water samples have revealed very high ammonia levels, indicating long-term pollution.

Effective immediately, please do not:
• Bathe, paddle, or swim in Haslar Lake, Workhouse Lake, Stoke Lake, or Alverstoke Creek.
• Fish or let pets enter these waters.

Warning signs will be in place by tomorrow morning and remain until water quality is fully restored.

Updates will follow once the lakes are safe to use again.

We are appealing for witnesses and information following a suspicious incident in Gosport.

Between 12.30pm and 1pm on Sunday 22 June, a man approached a six-year-old boy in the area of Alverstoke Creek near Jackie Spencer's Bridge and grabbed the boy's wrist.

It was reported the man left the area when the boy's mother shouted her son's name.

The male was described as Asian, estimated age between 28 and 30 years old, about 5ft 6in tall, slim build.

He had short black hair and was wearing a baseball cap, navy top, dark trousers and was carrying a black rucksack.

Can we all keep an eye out for this cutie please? He's called Abaddon but answers to Donny. He's wearing a white collar with yellow hearts on. He's a house cat but managed to get out and he's got a very worried owner at home.

Just an update on this post from yesterday, this gorgeous boy does have a loving home, he is on medication so if you do see him around please don't feed him as he needs to have his medication with his food at home.
