This is the perfect opportunity to come and chat all things well-being or discuss your family's needs with Mrs Stapenhill and Mrs Whittle. After having to postpone this twice, we are continuing with 'connect' as out focus petal this term. As part of this petal, we will be providing additional information on sleep.

Character.AI enables users to create and interact with AI-powered characters that can behave like friends, mentors, fictional characters or romantic partners.

While these tools can feel engaging and emotionally supportive, they also introduce important safeguarding, wellbeing and privacy considerations for children and young people.

Our latest guide supports parents, carers and educators in understanding the risks and opening constructive conversations around AI companionship.

The guide explores:
• Inappropriate content and unreliable advice
• Emotional dependency and blurred boundaries
• Privacy concerns linked to personal information
• Warning signs such as secretive or excessive use
• Withdrawal from real-world activities and relationships
• Practical steps around age settings, limits and reporting concerns

With clear, accessible guidance, this resource helps adults support safer, more balanced and informed use of AI character platforms.

Applications for children transferring to secondary school in September 2027 are now open. Applications can be submitted online, at https://www.hants.gov.uk/educationandlearning/admissions

The closing date is midnight on 31st October 2026.

Please remember the following:

Name three schools on your application to maximise your chances of being offered a place at one of your preferred schools.

Submit your application on-time, before the 31 October deadline.
Use the County Council’s school catchment area finder to check the catchment school for your address

Read the school’s admission policies to find out how many places are available and what criteria will be used to allocate places if the school is oversubscribed.

Think about how your child will get to school. See travel to school to help plan your journey and find out if you are eligible for help with transport.

You must name your catchment school(s) if you have one, as a preference if you wish to apply for travel assistance.
