Anti-Slavery Day raises awareness of modern slavery and human trafficking, which continue to affect millions of people worldwide, including victims here in the UK.

Modern slavery can take many forms, including forced labour, domestic servitude, criminal exploitation and sexual exploitation. The signs are not always obvious, which is why awareness is so important.

Gosport Travel Safe Partnership - Survey

Hampshire County Council want to hear from people in Gosport who use the bus to better understand their views about the safety and security of travelling by bus, including the walk to the bus stop and the wait at the stop, and whether recent investment to improve this is making a difference.

Today is the start of National Hate Crime Awareness Week, an opportunity to raise awareness of hate crime and the support available to those affected.

A hate crime is any criminal offence perceived by the victim or any other person to be motivated by hostility or prejudice based on a person's:

• Disability
• Race or ethnicity
• Religion or belief
• Sexual orientation
• Transgender identity

Hate crimes can take many forms, including:

• Threatening or abusive behaviour
• Assault
• Criminal damage
• Harassment
• Online abuse
• Robbery
• Inciting others to commit hate crimes

If you experience or witness a hate crime, it can be reported to the police by calling 101, reporting online, or through a third-party reporting centre.

National Cadet Week 2026

The first National Cadet Week will take place from 5 to 11 October 2026, celebrating the UK's cadet forces and the positive impact they have on young people and communities.

Throughout the week, cadet units across the country will open their doors to schools, families and local communities, showcasing the opportunities available through the cadet experience. Activities will highlight the wide range of skills cadets develop, including leadership, teamwork, first aid, confidence and resilience.

The week also aims to raise awareness of volunteering opportunities and demonstrate how the cadet movement helps prepare young people for adult life.
