Did you know there’s an alternative to flame cremation?
I found out about water cremation during my training and given the option, this is what I would prefer for myself.
I don’t think it’s that popular or available in the UK just now but I thought I’d share it for information xx
What remains when you're nothing but CREMAINS?
A Side by Side Look: Flame vs. Water Cremation 💧🔥
What you’re seeing is the physical difference between the two most common cremation methods today.
🔥 Left: Flame cremation- labeled as cremation:
Remains are light gray, often with visible bone shards, even after going through a cremulator (a machine designed to break them down further). The pH of these remains is highly alkaline, not acidic, and if not mixed with a good amount of soil, can harm plant roots and grass.
💧Right: Water cremation- labeled by brand name, aquamation:
After the water part of alkaline hydrolysis is completes, only soft, powdery bone remains once dry. On a scientific level, it isn't even bone anymore, it is now calcium phosphate. 💀
