Did you know the tradition of afternoon tea may have begun at Belvoir Castle? ☕🍰

In 1843, the Duchess of Bedford requested a tray of cakes and biscuits at around 4 o’clock – unknowingly creating one of Britain’s most beloved traditions.

This summer, step into the Regent’s Gallery where the very first afternoon tea may have been enjoyed, explore the beautiful estate, and let little adventurers tackle the Bertie Bear and Summer Safari trails.

This beautifully hand-drawn floor plan of Belvoir Castle, sketched by the 5th Duchess, Elizabeth, is the latest remarkable find in the archives.

The drawing depicts the previous castle before it was burnt down in the fire of 1816, offering a fascinating glimpse into the layout of the castle before it was destroyed.

Following the fire, Elizabeth led the ambitious rebuilding of Belvoir Castle, creating the magnificent Regency masterpiece we know and admire today.

Harvest has officially begun across the Belvoir Estate 🌾

While many know Belvoir Castle as a historic visitor attraction, there’s so much more happening beyond the Castle walls. As a working estate and farm, our team works year-round to care for the land, grow crops, and steward this beautiful landscape for generations to come.

We’re incredibly proud to be part of the farming community and grateful to the dedicated team whose hard work, long days and early mornings keep the estate thriving.

🌸 A huge thank you to everyone who took part in this year’s Border Garden competition. The standard of displays was exceptional, and we’ve had nothing but positive feedback from visitors!

Congratulations to the winner of The Duchess’ Cup and to our People’s Choice Award winner! Your gardens truly stood out and are a fantastic reflection of the talent and passion within our gardening community.
