🏡 What should Barkston & Syston look like in the future?
Where should new homes go?
What sort of development feels right for our villages?
What matters about our green spaces, roads, footpaths, community facilities and the character of where we live?
Barkston & Syston Parish Council has taken the first step towards creating a Neighbourhood Plan.
A Neighbourhood Plan gives local people an opportunity to help shape how their area develops in the years ahead. It can’t simply stop development, and it has to work alongside wider planning policies, but it can give our community a stronger voice in what future development looks like.
Right now, we’re only at the first stage.
South Kesteven District Council is holding a six-week consultation on the proposal to establish the Neighbourhood Plan area.
We’d really like residents to get behind it and involved.
If the proposal goes ahead, the next stage will be about listening to local people and finding out what matters to you.
That means conversations, ideas, concerns and, importantly, hearing from people who don’t normally get involved in Parish Council business.
This isn’t about the Parish Council deciding what the villages need and presenting you with a finished plan.
It’s about creating something WITH the community.
