The Bedfordshire Minerals and Waste Plan consultation is now open.

The plan will help guide where materials such as sand and gravel are sourced, and how waste is managed across Bedfordshire up to 2050.

This is an early stage of the process and no decisions have been made about future sites.

Residents, businesses and community groups can have their say until 27 November 2026.

Stay bright as the nights draw in!

The clocks go back on Sunday 25 October, but there's still plenty to look forward to. The Optimistic October calendar from Action for Happiness is packed with small daily actions – from writing down three things you're looking forward to, to asking for help when you need it. Pop it on the fridge and share it with your neighbours!

Report of anti-social behaviour

The Parish Council has received reports of two young boys kicking and banging on front doors as well as being generally noisy on their phones and running around homes along the High Street this week (specifically Sunday and yesterday). The residents involved were elderly and felt vulnerable and scared after the incident. The incidents have been reported to the Police.

We know that there is an emerging trend among some young people to do this, film it and share with friends but had hoped that our small village would skip the trend. Obviously not.

How can you help? Could everyone please remind their children to be respectful and avoid this sort of behaviour. Thank you for your help in keeping our community safe and kind.

PLANNING ALERT!

Dear Residents,

A planning application proposing the construction of 5 new homes on land off Barton Road in-between Fairbourne and St Mary's Church (site of old disused farm buildings) has been submitted. This site has been the subject of a multitude of planning applications, some withdrawn and all others refused by both Central Bedfordshire Council and the Planning Inspector.

The Parish Council remains opposed to any development of this site but currently there are only 10 objections logged with to Central Bedfordshire Council (CBC). Responses to the planning application need to be submitted by 28th August (this Friday!).
