Why isn’t there a Black Lives Matter-style campaign for Henry Nowak?

George Floyd’s death triggered protests across the world.

There were marches, riots, politicians taking the knee, footballers taking the knee, corporate statements and weeks of media coverage.

We were told that silence in the face of injustice was unacceptable.

So why the silence now?

Where are the politicians?

Where are the celebrities?

Where are the footballers?

Where is the national outrage?

Why does it seem that some victims become national causes, while others are barely mentioned?

Time is running out.

We are currently on 950 signatures, but 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝟱𝟱𝟬 𝗯𝘆 𝟮𝟳𝘁𝗵 𝗠𝗮𝘆.

At the current rate, we are projected to 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀 the target.

This petition calls on Gravesham Council to introduce an Article 4 Direction, so the conversion of family homes into HMOs can no longer happen without proper planning scrutiny and 𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

Residents across Gravesham are already feeling the impact through parking pressure, waste problems, anti-social behaviour concerns, and the gradual loss of long-term family housing.

This is about giving local communities a voice before more 𝗶𝗿𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 takes place.

What an incredible response from the people of Gravesend.

Just 4 days ago, we asked for your support to help protect and preserve our town from the rapid rise in HMOs. At that point, the petition stood at 491 signatures.

Today, we have reached an amazing 761 signatures.

That is a huge achievement in such a short space of time, and every single person who signed, shared, commented and helped spread the word should be proud of what we are building together.

This shows that local people do care about the future of Gravesend, about protecting our communities, and about making sure residents actually have a voice.

Thank you all for the fantastic support so far. Please keep the momentum going by sharing the petition with friends, family, neighbours and local groups.
