Kent Libraries is celebrating the National Year of Reading with a year‑long programme of free author talks at libraries across the county.

Meet bestselling writers, hear them talk about their books, and enjoy stories rooted in real places. From crime and thrillers to historical and contemporary fiction, there is something for every reader.

Author talks are taking place in libraries across Kent, with opportunities to listen, ask questions and discover your next great read. Whether you already love reading or want to get back into it, this programme is for you.

Get a head start on Summer Reading with Kent Libraries.

Kent Libraries are encouraging families to start early by joining the library, borrowing books, and exploring free eLibrary apps. This is a simple way to build reading confidence and excitement before the Summer Reading Challenge begins.

We'll be heading to Shorne Woods on Wednesday 27 May as part of their free annual Open Day, helping them Go All In for the National Year of Reading!

Come and find us to find out how to get the most out of your library membership, and for easy ways your family can get ready for this year's Summer Reading Challenge (not long to go now!)

There's a long list of things to see and do at Shorne Woods Country Park, including their eco-friendly visitor centre and café plus picnic and play areas – not to mention the 292 acres of rolling woodlands, wetlands and meadows that can be explored via a variety of waymarked trails.

The team have also put a lot of effort into making Shorne Woods as accessible as possible with over 2 miles of easy access routes that are perfect for wheelchair users and buggies.
