Neil was disillusioned with his corporate career. He’d scaled the corporate ladder and achieved great things. The Covid pandemic made him re-assess his life. Chasing the dollar wasn’t doing it for him anymore.

Foster carers come from all walks of life. Neil and his second wife have a blended family of teenagers from their previous marriages. They’ve discovered they’re brilliant at fostering teenagers.

An everyday life in an everyday home, with a steady routine from walking the dog to cooking dinner together can be life-changing for a child in care.

Is fostering a job? It's been a big debate in the media recently.

Gary explains his thoughts on the matter. “The thing is, you do get paid to be a foster carer, but you don't look upon fostering as a job. You're looking after children, who need a home. The children become part of your life and your family for as long as they're living with you.”

Gary has a day job working in a warehouse and considers himself the 'glory carer' who comes home after a day at work to play with the kids, do dinner, bath and bed; a solid routine that's the mainstay of families up and down the country.

If anything, he and his wife are planning on Gary giving up his traditional day job so they can both be at home to look after their foster children.

Friends Stacey and Sharon met in a foster carer support group ten years ago. They’ve supported each other, their families and the children they foster through thick and thin.

Foster carers come from all walks of everyday life. Sharon was running play events in nurseries before she started fostering. Stacey was working in the leisure industry and her partner suggested that fostering might work better for them after they had their little girl.

They both find fostering challenging whilst also incredibly rewarding. They’ve also found a strong friendship neither of them expected. You can watch their video https://orlo.uk/osCu3
