Hear me out… what if we turned underutilised green space in Haverstoe Park into a dedicated outdoor community lido and pool facility?
Transforming a section of the park into a clean, modern outdoor swimming spot—complete with changing rooms, seating areas, and a community café—could be a absolute game-changer for the local area.
Here are a few key benefits this could bring to the Haverstoe community:
A Hub for Local Families & All Ages: It gives kids, teens, families, and older residents a safe, fun, and healthy place to gather, socialise, and cool off during the warmer months.
Health, Fitness & Wellbeing: Outdoor swimming and lidos offer fantastic physical exercise and mental health benefits, right on our doorstep without needing to travel far.
Boosting Local Pride & Tourism: A well-maintained outdoor pool facility would attract visitors from surrounding areas, boosting nearby local businesses, shops, and cafés.
Repurposing Underused Space: Converting quiet or under-budgeted grassy plots into a vibrant, high-value asset makes the absolute most of our shared parkland.
Community Events & Lifesaving Skills: It creates opportunities for local swimming lessons, water safety courses, early morning lane swims, and community social events.
What do you think? Would you love to see something like an outdoor lido come to Haverstoe?

From a historic powerhouse of the fishing industry to a global leader in the green revolution, Grimsby is at a crossroads where its heritage meets its future. Embracing the renewable industry isn’t just about carbon targets; it’s about restoring the town's pride and economic heartbeat.

This area needs to embrace the Renewable industry the benefits of doing so I could list so many, The "Green Revolution" acts as a catalyst for a broader social and economic facelift

High-Skilled Employment its a no brainer!
The industry is moving beyond construction into long-term maintenance. This creates stable, well-paid jobs for local people, supported by world-class training facilities in North East Lincolnshire that allow workers to upskill without leaving the area.

By leaning into renewables, Grimsby isn't just surviving; it's leading. It is transforming from a town defined by its past into a city defining the future of the UK's energy independence.

Britain is rebuilding let's not get left behind.

For most of the last fifteen years, Britain has been a country that talks about decline more than construction. Roads are ageing, rail is stretched, energy infrastructure is outdated, and productivity has barely grown since the financial crisis.

In June 2025, the UK government published a long-term infrastructure strategy committing at least £725 billion over ten years to rebuild the country's physical foundations.

This is the first time Britain has combined economic infrastructure (transport, energy, digital) with social infrastructure (hospitals, schools, prisons) and housing under one coordinated plan.

But is this really transformative, or just catching up after decades of underinvestment? In this video, I break down the official strategy document to show you exactly where the money is going, which projects are real, and whether Britain can actually deliver.
