Michael’s HOPE Journey – from patient to volunteer 🌟
Michael joined our HOPE Specialist Service as a patient in January 2026 – and thanks to his dedication and the support he received, he’s now training to become a volunteer HOPE Buddy himself! 🧡
Michael speaks highly of the HOPE team, describing them as “brilliant” and praising their patience, kindness, and care. He says nothing was ever too much trouble and that the support he received made a real difference to his wellbeing.
Following the eight-week Falls Rehabilitation programme, Michael experienced reduced pain, improved mobility, better sleep and greater confidence. He now relies less on medication, needs his back brace less often, and feels healthier overall. He credits the HOPE team for working at a pace that suited him and for always being there when he needed support.
Michael is now training to become one of our HOPE Volunteer Buddies who are at the heart of the HOPE service, with many having experienced the programme firsthand.
Buddies provide an extra pair of eyes and ears during rehabilitation sessions, while also acting as powerful role models – offering understanding, encouragement, and bringing real-life experience.
Michael would recommend the HOPE service without hesitation. To him, the team are “second to none” – and his journey is a powerful reminder that with the right support, positive change is possible.
