Wherever you go across the UK, there are dedicated volunteer Search and Rescue teams ready to help when people need us most.

We work alongside the emergency services to help find missing people, support those in difficulty and bring loved ones home safely.

Behind every callout are volunteers who drop everything to help a stranger — giving up their time, often in the most challenging conditions, to support their communities. 💚

Rhosneigr Coastguard Rescue Team tasked this evening by Holyhead MRCC along with our colleagues from Llandwrog Coastguard Rescue Team to attend and man a local Helicopter landing site (HLS) ready for the possible arrival of our Coastguard Rescue Helicopter "Rescue 336" with a casualty.

Team shortly received an update to stand down from the tasking as the casualty has now been recovered and brought to safety by the local Mountain rescue team and an HLS is no longer required.

CRTs then returned to station to make ready for any future taskings.

In recent weeks we’ve seen an increase in fires involving lithium-ion batteries across North Wales, and we're urging residents to take extra care when charging and storing devices powered by these batteries.

Jane Honey, Deputy Head of Prevention, said:
"Lithium-ion batteries are used in many everyday items, including mobile phones, laptops, e-bikes, e-scooters and power tools. While they are generally safe when used correctly, damaged, faulty or improperly charged batteries can fail without warning and cause serious fires.

"To reduce the risk, always use the manufacturer's charger, avoid overcharging batteries and never charge devices in/near escape routes such as hallways or exits. If a battery shows signs of damage, overheating, swelling or unusual smells, stop using it immediately and dispose of it safely.

"By taking a few simple precautions, we can all help prevent these potentially devastating fires and keep our homes and communities safe.

“In the event of a fire, don’t try and tackle it yourself - leave and call 999 immediately.”

Rhosneigr Coastguard Rescue Team tasked by Holyhead MRCC to Traeth Llanddwyn in Newborough to get eyes on a person on a foil board drifting out to sea within the Caernarfon bay area

Also in attendance were Coastguard Rescue Helicopter "Rescue 336" from Caernarfon and the RNLI lifeboat from Porthdinllaen along with our CRT colleagues from both Bangor Coastguard Rescue Team - North Wales and Llandwrog Coastguard Rescue Team who were looking out from vantage points along the menai straits down towards trefor.

Shortly after an update was received that the foilboarder had managed to self rescue and was safely ashore and our CRT was able to stand down and return to station to make ready for any future taskings.

We are looking for motivated individuals to join our team as Coastguard Rescue Officers.

HM Coastguard is the UK's 999 maritime and coastal emergency service, responding to incidents and helping people in distress around our coastline.

As a Coastguard Rescue Officer, there isn't a typical day.

One day you could be searching for a missing person. The next, providing emergency medical care to an injured walker. Or you could be working alongside your team to safely extricate someone trapped in mud.

Every callout is different. Every day is different.

To be eligible, you must:

• Be 18 years or older
• Live and/or work in the local area
• Hold a full driving licence
• Be fit and healthy

No previous Coastguard experience is required — full training is provided.
