Parking at the Parish Office

We are aware that a car parked in the spaces outside the Parish Office has recently been vandalised. The incident has been reported to the police.

If you were in the area and saw anything suspicious, or have any information that may help the police with their enquiries, please contact the Parish Office.

JUBILEE PLAYGROUND CLOSURE - 7/9/26

Please be aware that the Jubilee Playground will be closed from Monday 7 September for approximately 3 days.

The closure is needed to allow contractors to install a new fence around the playground.

For everyone’s safety, please do not enter the playground while the work is taking place. The playground will reopen as soon as the work has been safely completed.

Thank you for your patience and understanding while these works are carried out.

🎉🥾 Very excited to announce that the programme for the High Weald Walking Festival 2026 is now live. Come and join us for nine days of wonderful walks!

Between 12 and 20 September there will be 80 guided and self-guided walks taking place all across the High Weald.

There are some cracking walks in this year’s programme – from archaeology and prehistoric hunter-gatherers to wildlife, wellbeing and exploring the High Weald’s hidden valleys and ancient woodlands. Whether you're new to countryside walking, looking for a family-friendly stroll, or after a rewarding 13-mile hike, there's something to suit every age, interest and ability.

All of the walks are completely free. Many operate on a 'turn up on the day' basis, although some require booking in advance.

An amber heat-health alert is in place across parts of England from today until 14 August.

During an amber alert, hot weather can put more people’s health at risk – not just those who are usually more vulnerable.

Older people, young children and people with existing health conditions may be particularly at risk.

Take extra care and look out for others who may struggle in the heat.

The news that Uckfield Post Office is closing is a reminder of just how important it is to use the local services we want to keep.

We are incredibly lucky to have a Post Office here in Groombridge. It is more than somewhere to post a parcel or collect a pension. It is a valued local service and an important part of our village.

The best way to protect it is simple. Use it.

Send your parcels. Buy your stamps. Pick up your essentials. Use the services available at Groombridge Post Office whenever you can.

Every visit helps show that our Post Office is needed, valued and supported by the community.

From 17 July to 9 August, join thousands of people across the UK in the Big Butterfly Count and help protect our precious butterflies and moths.

Taking part is easy: ✅ Spend just 15 minutes in a garden, park or local green space

Butterflies are important indicators of the health of our environment, and your observations can help scientists understand how wildlife is responding to climate change and habitat loss.
