Drug driving affects reaction time, concentration and judgement - even if you “feel okay”.

Police can test roadside and the consequences can be life-changing.

🚔 Intel for suspected drink driving... but that's not what got this vehicle seized.

Following information from our colleagues at Thames Valley Police, officers stopped this vehicle in Surrey after concerns it was being driven by a provisional licence holder and that the driver may have been drink driving.

The driver provided a negative breath test. However, further checks revealed they were driving on a provisional licence without displaying L plates.

The driver claimed the L plates had only recently fallen off, but ANPR images showed they hadn't been displayed for well over a week.

The result?

🚫 Vehicle seized
⚖️ Driver reported to court

If you only hold a provisional licence, you must comply with the conditions of that licence every time you drive. Cutting corners can lead to serious consequences.

🚔 Passed his test in February… back to a provisional licence by June.

This Kia was stopped by officers in 📍Woking. The driver had only recently passed his driving test but was found to be driving without insurance.

The consequences?

❌ Vehicle seized
💷 £300 fixed penalty
🚫 6 penalty points

As a new driver, receiving 6 points within the first two years means their full licence will be revoked, taking them back to provisional licence status.

Insurance isn't optional. Before you drive, make sure you're legally covered.

This vehicle was stopped by officers on the High Street, Claygate, yesterday. The driver is disqualified from driving for multiple previous driving offences; to make matters worse, he tested positive for co***ne on a roadside drug wipe.

The driver was arrested for

🚫 driving while disqualified
🚫 driving without insurance
🚫 drug-driving

All lanes are now open, but there are stil delays in area. Thank you all for your patience.

Update 18.35 -
Both carriageways are now being reopened, but with a lane closure and likely delays remaining on the northbound while investigation continues at the crash site.

🚨A3 CLOSED in both directions between Painshill and Esher due to a collision.
Officers are holding both carriageways whilst the medical helicopter is on scene providing advanced emergency care.

This driver was apparently running late for a work appointment.

He knew the speed limit was different, as he has 4 points on his licence for going too fast in a van on a dual carriageway before!
