Hello rain ๐Ÿ‘‹

As much as we are all grateful for the rain this morning, please please please adjust your driving. Officers have already attended several collisions across the county where people have not adjusted their driving to the conditions.

We haven't had rain for a long time and as a result there is a lot of standing water on the roads.

Remember when driving:
Slow Down
Increase your stopping distances

Before you travel:
Check your routes
Check your tyres
Check your wiper blades

Always drive carefully and be considerate to other road users.

๐Ÿšจ A routine stop in ๐Ÿ“Brookwood uncovered some long-standing licence issues.

officers stopped this Vauxhall and discovered the driver had been driving on a Brazilian driving licence for the past six years, without obtaining the required UK driving licence entitlement.๐Ÿชช

Further checks revealed the driver was also:

โŒ Driving without valid insurance

The outcome?

๐Ÿ“‹ Driver reported to court
๐Ÿš— Vehicle seized

If you drive in the UK, it's your responsibility to ensure you're correctly licensed and insured. Failing to do so can result in court action, vehicle seizure, and significant costs.

๐Ÿš” Some drivers just don't seem to learn...

This Toyota Yaris was stopped after officers recognised it as a vehicle that had already been seized in July for having no insurance.

You might think that experience would be enough to encourage the driver to get things sorted. Unfortunately not.

Checks revealed the vehicle was once again being driven:
โŒ Without insurance
โŒ Without a valid MOT

As a result:

โœ… Vehicle seized... again
๐Ÿ“‹ Driver reported to court

Driving without insurance isn't a victimless offence. It puts other road users at financial risk and can leave innocent people out of pocket after a collision.

Having your vehicle seized once should be enough incentive to stay on the right side of the law. For this driver, a second seizure may now be followed by a court appearance and a likely driving disqualification. โš–๏ธ

๐Ÿš” One traffic stop in ๐Ÿ“Woking quickly turned into two vehicle seizures...

officers stopped this Toyota Prius following information linking it to speeding offences in Surrey.

Checks revealed the driver: โŒ Had no driving licence โŒ Was not wearing a seatbelt

The vehicle was seized, the driver was reported, and insurance enquiries remain ongoing.

Needing a lift home, the driver called a friend.

So far, so good... ๐Ÿ‘€

The friend arrived in a Nissan, and the original driver began transferring all of his belongings into the new vehicle.

Unfortunately, checks on the Nissan revealed: โŒ Incorrectly registered โŒ No MOT โŒ No vehicle tax

Result?

๐Ÿš” Second vehicle seized ๐Ÿ“‹ Driver issued Fixed Penalty Notices

And the original driver had the unenviable task of unloading all of his belongings for a second time. ๐Ÿ“ฆ๐Ÿ“ฆ

โœ… Two vehicles seized
โœ… Drivers dealt with for multiple offences
โœ… Another proactive stop helping to keep Surrey's roads safe

Sometimes one traffic stop tells a story. This one told two.

We are appealing for witnesses following a serious collision in Jacobs Well.

Officers were called to Woking Road at 9.44am this morning (Tuesday, 25 August) after reports of a collision involving a cyclist and a coach at the location. The cyclist, a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries, where he remains.

The coach was later stopped at Heathrow Airport. The driver, a man in his late 40s, is assisting police with our investigation.

Road closures are currently in place on Woking Road between the Salt Box Road roundabout and the junctions with Burdenshott Road, Clay Lane, and Whitmoor Lane to allow officers to carry out their initial enquiries. These will be lifted shortly.

Were you in the area around Woking Road between 9.15am and 9.35am this morning? We are asking anyone who may have witnessed this collision, or who may have CCTV, dashcam, or helmet cam footage that may have captured all or part of this incident, to get in touch. If you have any information that might assist our investigation, please contact us quoting PR/45260103445.

๐Ÿš” Dรฉjร  vu? Unfortunately, yes.

Back in June, officers stopped and seized this vehicle in ๐Ÿ“Addlestone after it was found to have:

โŒ No tax
โŒ No insurance
โŒ No MOT

Fast forward two months... and the same officer stopped the same vehicle in the same location. ๐Ÿ‘€

What had changed?

Not much.

Checks revealed the vehicle was still being driven without tax and without an MOT.

To make matters worse, the driver also tested positive for cannabis on a roadside Drug Wipe. ๐ŸŒฟ

The outcome:

โœ… Driver arrested
โœ… Positive roadside drugs test
โœ… Vehicle seized... again ๐Ÿš—

Road safety isn't just about vehicle condition. It's also about the fitness of the person behind the wheel. Driving after taking drugs and ignoring basic legal requirements for your vehicle can have serious consequences.

This driver's second encounter with officers in the same location didn't end any better than the first.

๐Ÿš” Something didn't seem right about this driver in ๐Ÿ“Haslemere...

officers stopped this vehicle after concerns that the driver appeared intoxicated behind the wheel.

When speaking with the driver, officers spotted cannabis in plain view in a drinks holder. ๐ŸŒฟ

The driver was detained under the Misuse of Drugs Act, and a further search of the vehicle uncovered a substantial quantity of cannabis.

The outcome?

โœ… Driver arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a Class B drug
โœ… Suspected cannabis seized

Drug-related activity has no place on Surrey's roads. Thanks to proactive policing, this individual was taken into custody and a significant quantity of suspected drugs was removed from circulation.๐Ÿ‘ฎ

officers saw this vehicle being driven at excess speed and the then driver failing to give way at a junction in Guildford, nearly causing a collision.

Upon being stopped, the driver initially provided false details but was caught out when officers noticed the name on his social media on his phone was different to the one he provided.

The reason for the false details... transpires the driver has a revoked licence and no insurance.

Officers also found the vehicle was in a dangerous condition with seatbelts that didn't retract, frayed seatbelts, loose battery and the front bumper was hanging off.

The result: driver reported to court for a number of offences and vehicle seized.
