Dorking Road in Chilworth is now fully open.

09/06/2026

🚧 Road Closed means closed - to protect our crews working just metres away.

Every time someone drives through a closure, it puts our staff in danger. These are real people - mums, dads, sons, daughters - working hard, often in the dark or poor weather, with their backs to traffic.

One reckless decision can change a life forever.

Ignoring closures doesn't just risk lives:
❌ It creates unsafe working conditions
❌ Causes costly delays and disruptions
❌ Increases the chance of serious accidents

Our teams are out there making your roads safer and smoother. Please don’t put them at risk.

Respect the signs. Follow diversions. Keep our people safe.

🎉The road is now fully open 🎉

📍Chilworth- road closure 📍

Update- Thames Water has extended until the 10th.

Please drive safely and be careful with extra pedestrians walking in this area. The diversion routes are tricky in rush hour but are the option for diversion.

Keep safe.

I have been working on the Thames Water issue in Chilworth A248 Dorking Road closure and happy to confirm that work has begun on site and the repair will be done today the delay was due to a custom part they needed which is now being fitted.

I have asked for better signage around HGVs not being suitable for the diversion routes and explained the area is one to flag and look closely at when this type of issue happens.

I have also asked for a push on this particular issue to be resolved as quickly as possible. The contact I spoke to was very helpful and will keep myself and other councillors updated. I can’t confirm a date of completion but they are hopeful for completion close to the original date, potentially Tuesday.

🚧⛔️ Chilworth ⛔️🚧

📍UPDATED-Road closed for the next few days.

There is a broken water pipe in Blacksmith Lane, Chilworth along the Dorking Road near the railway line by Old Manor Lane.

This may lead to the road being closed as access from New Road may not be possible.

This is all I know at the moment. Link below for live updates of road closure status.

💧 Water pressure may be low or off at this time see details in the link below and contact Thames Water if you are a priority household. Water tankers have been deployed to pump water into the system.

Sorry if your tap water isn't flowing at the moment, we're still working to repair a broken water pipe in Blacksmith Lane. Unfortunately its taking us longer than usual to repair.

Thank you to all the many residents who voted for us on the of 7th May. Sadly this time Stephen and I didn’t quite get the result we hoped for.

I am so proud of my colleagues for achieving a Liberal Democrat majority for West & East Surrey Councils.

Until the new council takes over in March 2027, I will continue my last 10 months as a borough ward councillor for Shalford. It’s been an honour and a privilege.
