It's National Poetry Day - Welcome to a wonderful world of wonder.
Here's one of my favourite poems that's full of wonder.
Do you have one to share?

A Small Dragon by Brian Patten

I've found a small dragon in the woodshed.
Think it must have come from deep inside a forest
because it's damp and green and leaves
are still reflecting in it's eyes.

I fed it on many things, tried grass,
the roots of stars, hazel-nut and dandelion,
but it stared up at me as if to say, I need
foods you can't provide.

It made a nest among the coal,
not unlike a bird's but larger,
it is out of place here
and is quite silent.

If you believed in it I would come
hurrying to your house to let you share my wonder
but I want instead to see
if you yourself will pass this way.

We have had lots of borrowing in the History and War section of non-fiction section lately so we decided to give the section a refresh and add some new or different books. For our younger readers we added some seasonal themed books and a selection of Young Readers.

Children's books don't accrue fines...that's zero pennies per day for bringing them back late...so there is really no reason* for jamming returns in our tiny post/book returns box (especially if it looks like it might rain).

*Unless you're fleeing the country at a moments notice chased by MI5 (or similar) in which case, fair enough and thanks for prioritising your library book returns.

Oh no! One of our Monday volunteers just sent me a picture of a small lost bear.... home needed...but chances are the bear will be hiding somewhere different by opening time tomorrow :)

PS. They look too small for marmalade sandwiches...maybe just a little jam on a teaspoon.

Scottish crime writer Peter May has died - we definitely have fans amongst our borrowers and lots of Peter May books are available to either borrow from us or order in from around county.

May was one of Scotland's most prolific television and crime writers and sold 15 million books around the world.
