The Mayor and Mayoress visited Mytholmroyd to the unveiling of a statue in Memorial of Ted Hughes OM, Poet Laureate and probably Mytholmroyd's most renowned son. He met Ted's daughter Frieda Hughes and the sculptor Johanna Storm Rusu along with other dignitaries for the well attended event.

The Mayor and Mayoress visited White Windows Care Home in Sowerby Bridge for their Summer Fayre. He opened the event with words of welcome from the balcony with Sharon Costello the senior Manager, then they mingled with residents and perused the stalls.

The Mayor hosted a visit by Clara McKee and her mum Trudi in the Mayor's Parlour to celebrate Clara's recent win to become under 18's Mountain Running World Youth Cup Champion; held in Italy. She competed against competitors from across the World in extreme heat to win the race.
Whilst chatting her enthusiasm for fell running and competitive instinct were obvious- along with her dedication to training.

The Mayor and Mayoress were invited to the Proms at the Lake Concert held at Shibden Hall to mark the 100 year anniversary of Shibden Park.
They were treated to a VIP reception at the Hall before the Mayor opened the event by offering Words of Welcome to the performers and audience.
This was an evening of open-air entertainment performed by the English Chamber Orchestra, Halifax Choral Society and the Northern Ballet.
The weather played its part with a warm dry evening. The Concert was well attended with many bringing garden chairs and blankets to sit on.
With a great line up the music was fantastic as was the atmosphere as it dropped from daylight, through dusk into darkness.

The Mayor and Mayoress visited the Mixenden Gala. This was the first time it has been held for years but seemed popular with a good turnout from local people of all ages joining in the fun.
The Mayor got to hold a Golden Eagle, Hook a Duck, practice his soccer skills and be the recipient of several wet sponges; whilst meeting local people and stall-holders.

The Mayor and Mayoress attended the 80th Halifax Agricultural show. The Mayor opened the event in the main arena before they made their way around the showground. They met exhibitors and judged the fancy dress competition and visited many stalls and selecting their favourite stands in agriculture, trade and craft categories before presenting Rosettes to the successful exhibitors. The event was extremely well attended on a beautiful day. Special praise goes out to the event organisers and many volunteers in attendance.

The Mayor and Mayoress visited Woodfield Grange Care Home at West Vale for their Big Brew for Overgate event. The event was organised in memory of Jo's mum who died of Cancer in the home. There were cakes and drinks available; with donations split between Overgate Hospice and the Home. The music and entertainment was enjoyed by the residents.

It was a privilege for the Mayor of a Calderdale to join the Halifax Civic Trust and community members to unveil a brand new blue plaque dedicated to one of our area's most fascinating historical figures, John Edward Wainhouse (1816-1883). Set against the backdrop of the Wainhouse Tower, the plaque celebrates Wainhouse's legacy as a benefactor, pamphlets, chairman of the Skircoat Board of Surveyors, and the visionary builder of the observatory chimney in 1875.

The Mayor attended Fernside Hall Care Home in Halifax to celebrate their recent CQC successes; being an "all Green" Region following annual IPC inspections.
The Mayor met staff and residents along with invited guests who had all helped implement the improvements and lead to their success in the inspections.
