Quick update.....

Whilst things may appear quiet on here they certainly arent in reality, in the background I'm still regularly in contact with residents who need help, support and advice.

That doesn't stop because I'm no longer elected in fact those connections continue. I am still available so please dont apologise when you reach out as I love to help people and that's why I put myself forward in the first place so if you need help you only need to ask ❤️

Have your say on the future of Mixenden and Illingworth.

Over the coming weeks, local organisations, community groups and Neighbourhood Board members will be out and about in Mixenden and Illingworth speaking with residents as part of the Pride in Place community engagement programme.

This is your opportunity to share:
• What you love about the area
• What you'd like to see improved
• What opportunities we should build on
• Your hopes for the future of our community

If you are a resident your feedback will help shape the Pride in Place Neighbourhood Plan and influence future investment priorities for Mixenden and Illingworth.

You can get involved by:
• Completing a survey – copies are available at Mixenden Library, Beechwood Library, Holy Nativity Church, Illingworth Moor Methodist Church, and Mixenden Activity Centre.
• Taking part online through the Pride in Place Engage Platform
• Attending a community conversation or local event

Every conversation, idea and survey response matters.

I've recently been engaged in a local group supporting people who have RA, Andrew Mossman set this up to allow people to make links, socially meet and just have that hyperlocal understanding that helps. I'm now trying to support rolling that out wider in Calderdale and hopefully in North Halifax.

Having a autoimmune disease is huge and navigating life with the changes it presents is also sometimes overwhelming, worrying and frustrating.

What's normal?
Why is this happening?
What can i expect now?
Will I ever get better?

This and many other questions may have been what you want answering, come along to one of the monthly in person groups, joing the Facebook group or WhatsApp group and meet other's who are also navigating R.A.

Some have been diagnosed many years, some newly diagnosed and some are just awaiting tests but their G.P. feel it definitely fits within the R.A. box.

My daughter was part of the Calderdale Council SEND youth voice team. These are vital groups to make sure young people can be heard and have a opportunity to design, develop and influence the services that deliver for them.

My daughter has continued to engage in these spaces when suitable and found it really rewarding and beneficial for her own development.

If you have a young person share this and give them the opportunity to shape the services that they use as well as giving them a opportunity to develop, build confidence and learn new skills.

We're looking for 13–17-year-olds to join our team of young advisors - a great opportunity for young people to work collaboratively on issues that directly affect them.

Influence how services in Calderdale safeguard and support young people 🤝
Identify challenges faced by young people and take action 💭
Gain valuable skills and experiences to include in your CV 💼
Receive a £10 contribution per session 💷

Work varies from producing posters and surveys, taking part in creative projects, attending meetings, and presenting findings to professionals and services.

Register your interest before Friday 25th September by filling in our form: https://forms.cloud.microsoft/e/BLJe1W0AGV
