Calderdale’s Young Advisors are a group of young people aged 13-17 who use their experiences, ideas and insights to help shape services and decisions that affect children and young people across Calderdale.

By sharing their views and influencing change, they help ensure young people’s voices are heard and acted upon, helping us to shape our services. Their work is a brilliant example of this year’s World Mental Health Day theme, "Lived Experience: Real Voices, Real Change."

Today marks the start of Baby Loss Awareness Week 2026.

Baby Loss Awareness Week provides an opportunity for everyone in the baby loss community, and beyond, to come together to remember the much loved and deeply missed babies who have been lost too soon.

There are several events taking place across Calderdale where families, friends and the wider community can come together to remember babies lost too soon, including:

This week, members of our Green Spaces team joined forces with Ripponden In Bloom and JLA to give the Memorial Garden in Ripponden a seasonal refresh ahead of Remembrance Day. Over two days, the teams cleared planting beds, tackled weeds, thinned shrubs and cut back hedges, helping prepare the garden for its winter bedding display in the coming weeks.

Projects like this show the real difference partnership working can make to local spaces and communities. A huge thank you to everyone involved for their hard work and support!
