This Shared Lives Week we ran a series of activities designed to celebrate carers, achievements, and the relationships at the heart of the Shared Lives community.

The week included a gentle group walk focused on sharing good news and celebrating successes; a relaxed day out encouraging connection and companionship, and a picnic dedicated to sharing stories and recognising achievements. The celebrations concluded with a soiree, kindly hosted by a carer to acknowledge the dedication of our carers and honour the meaningful relationships they support every day.

The power of relationships, community connection, and everyday moments are what make Shared Lives so special. Find out more about our Shared Lives Scheme 👉 https://new.calderdale.gov.uk/health-and-social-care/adult-social-care/placement-schemes

Meet Cllr Keith Ingle, Cabinet Member for Economic Regeneration 👋

Cllr Ingle’s role includes overseeing support for businesses, boosting jobs and skills, delivering safe, affordable and warm homes for local people, planning, tourism and building strong partnerships with community groups.

With a degree in marketing, business and engineering, plus a wide range of work experience, Cllr Ingle brings a wealth of skills to the Council.

He has worked for a number of global technology-based product and service companies and is a former business director, where he led a team developing and launching products and services across Western Europe/Scandinavia. Cllr Ingle worked in a number of analytical and commercial roles with financial accountabilities which he believes gives him a good understanding of how to deliver high-quality, cost-effective and efficient services.

Born and raised in Calderdale, with ancestry in the area stretching back nearly 200 years, Cllr Ingle has deep roots within and a strong affection for the area. He is proud to serve the people of Halifax who have placed their trust in him and is committed to delivering for the whole borough.

As lead for economic regeneration, Cllr Ingle wants to ensure that Calderdale has a thriving and vibrant local economy whilst preserving the town's rich cultural and natural heritage. A lasting legacy for Castle Hill students! 🏗️✨

Today, six Year 6 students from Castle Hill Primary School in Todmorden joined the Mayor of Calderdale, Cllr Andrew Tagg; Director of Children and Young People's Services, Martyn Stenton; and Cabinet Member for Children and Young People's Services, Cllr Tim Holden, to leave their mark on the school's exciting new chapter.

The pupils signed the steelwork on the site of the new school building, creating a lasting legacy as construction continues on a modern, state of the art facility.

Castle Hill Primary School is the first school in Calderdale to benefit from the Government's 10-year School Rebuilding Programme, which will bring multi-million-pound investment to schools across Calderdale. The investment will transform learning spaces with modern classrooms, improved facilities and greater energy efficiency, helping children and young people to thrive for generations to come.

Although these Year 6 pupils will have moved on before the new school is completed, their signatures will remain part of the building's story.

Yesterday, we worked on a community clean up in the Park Ward area of Halifax, in partnership with West Yorkshire Police, West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service and local residents.

This included clearing fly-tipping, litter picking with volunteers, checking vehicles, home fire safety checks, clearing weeds and cutting grass verges. We collected 5 cages of waste, 4 tonnes of rubbish, 2 skips and 1 load of green waste, and 5 vehicles were removed.

Well done to everyone involved! We will be working on other areas of the borough in the coming months.
