Join us for a family day out with our preserved HST's.

On Saturday, 4th July, enjoy unlimited air-conditioned HST rides, with the chance to ride in the cab of 43082 and more.

👨‍👩‍👧 Bring the entire family and ride the train all day in our air-conditioned, open first-class seating, with tables and charging sockets.

🍝 Our on-board buffet will serve a variety of hot and cold food, drinks and snacks, and features a licensed bar.

✏️ We will have pencils and colouring-in sheets available to keep little ones entertained.

The other power cars will be on display on Platform Two, where you can get a private tour and start one, take pictures, and look inside the engine room.

Power car 43082 will have 43023, in BR grey/blue, at the other end.

🅿️ Parking is free, toilets are available on every platform, and dogs are welcome to ride on board.

Cab rides and power car start-ups are purchased separately from the buffet on the day of service.

Bookings close later today for our Fish & Chip Train on the 20th June. If you're thinking of coming, act quick!

We are hosting our next Fish & Chip Train on Saturday 20th June.

An easy group night out, a relaxed date night, or just something different to do on a summer Saturday evening.

We’ve taken the hassle out of the evening:

✨ Reserved seating, so your group sits together
✨ Free on-site parking
✨ No queues
✨ Fish, pie or vegetarian option served at your table
✨ Drinks available from the onboard bar, including beers and wines
✨ And best of all, no washing up

How it works

Book in advance and choose your food when you book. Then just turn up, take your seat, and enjoy the evening.

You’ll ride in our vintage coaching stock on almost the longest day of the year. The scenery moves, the food comes to you, and everything is kept easy from start to finish.

A Saturday night you’ll remember in December.

Tom Scott published this video on railway signalling. A fascinating look at the historical and modern evolution of railway signalling.

If you visit our signal box, you'll see an implementation of the mechanical method of signalling, and we are very proud of it.

We have 2 operational signal boxes on our railway, and they have their roots in Essex. One from Cressing and the other from Wrabness. The mechanical frame in Hedingham (the Cressing signal box) was cast in 1891.

If you want to learn how to operate them, check out our volunteering page! You don't need any railway experience at all.
