Following new changes to Free School Meal eligibility from September 2026, we are encouraging all families of children in Y3 upwards to check whether your child may now qualify.

*All children in Reception, Y1 and Y2 automatically qualify for Free School Meals*

If your household receives Universal Credit, your child may now be entitled to Free School Meals – regardless of your household earnings.

Even if you have checked before and were not eligible, please check again, as the criteria has changed.

Registering for Free School Meals can also help ensure that eligible pupils and schools receive the support and funding available to them.

Please take a few minutes to check your eligibility and apply if appropriate.

If you are already in receipt of Free School Meals, there is no need to re-apply.

Changes to FREE SCHOOL MEALS from September 2026!
There are now 2 categories for FSM.
Targeted FSM which continues to be based on the existing threshold covering pupils who are in households in receipt of Universal Credit with an annual household earnings of £7,400 or less

EXPANDED FSM a NEW category covering pupils who do not qualify for targeted but who are in households receiving Universal Credit.

All applications to be made through your
NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY COUNCILS CITIZENS PORTAL
This is the same portal that you use to apply for a school place.

If you have any queries we can help on return to school or you could email the office [email protected] and we will reply when able.

Please apply if your household receives any UNIVERSAL CREDIT.

Reminder
Friday is non school uniform - no crop tops and short shorts
- remember it is slip and slide for those who want to take part
- change of swim costume/shorts or clothes and a towel.
Please also send in a bag for the WET/MUDDY clothes.
