COVEYbefriending

COVEYbefriending Befriending, Mentoring and Family Support for young people and their families across Lanarkshire.

We are a charity providing a volunteering opportunity for people to make a real difference in the life of a young person needing support. This takes the form of one to one outings, building up a relationship and giving the young person a positive adult role model in the life.

As our Flourishing Families project heads into the summer holidays, we're looking back on some of the fantastic moments we've shared!

From creating colourful clay designs and making handmade kites to enjoying games of basketball, our young people have embraced every opportunity to get creative, stay active and have fun together.

These shared experiences help build confidence, spark creativity and strengthen friendships as they prepare for the exciting transition to secondary school.

It's been wonderful to see them supporting one another and creating memories! 😀

COVEY’s Parent/Carer Support Group recently enjoyed a wonderful flower arranging workshop, led by our very own talented Mags!

The session gave parents and carers the opportunity to learn new skills, get creative and spend time together in a relaxed and supportive environment.

Everyone left with a beautiful arrangement and a sense of achievement! 💛

A huge thank you to Mags for sharing her expertise and making the workshop such a great experience for everyone 🥰

A huge thank you to Purrfect Cafe in East Kilbride for making our recent COVEY Connect group outing so special.

We had a wonderful time meeting the beautiful rescue cats, who are so loved and well cared for. It was a great opportunity for the group to connect and share some lovely memories together.

The café provides a warm and welcoming environment that really made everyone feel relaxed and included. 💛

And we’re especially grateful to the team for opening later than usual just for our group!

Sometimes the biggest impact of support is hearing someone say: “I feel accepted for who I am”

This mind map was created by one of our young people. It captures what support from COVEY means to them - a safe space, confidence, belonging, and the freedom to be exactly who they are.

At COVEY, we are proudly empowering children, young people and their families to feel that sense of belonging they truly deserve.

We rely on our amazing community of befriender/mentor volunteers to help us continue this work.

If you can spare just 2-3 hours a week, you could make a real and lasting difference to someone at a time when they need it most.

We have opportunities across Lanarkshire, from Hamilton, East Kilbride and Wishaw to Airdrie, Motherwell, Cambuslang, Rutherglen and more!

Please get in touch using our short enquiry form and we'll be happy to answer any questions you might have.
