Barnardo’s is inviting local people to find out more and share their views on a proposal to develop five Gap Homes in Blantyre, which is currently in the early stages of development.
The homes will provide a safe space for young people to build confidence and everyday living skills, while keeping consistent, trusted support close by.
The development would comprise four self-contained homes and one house for staff who will support them 24 hours a day.
Two public engagement sessions will be hosted by Barnardo’s on Wednesday 7 October, from 2pm to 3pm and from 6pm to 7pm at Blantyre Life, 90 Park Lane, Blantyre G72 9AS.
Representatives from Barnardo’s will explain how young people’s futures are being supported, share options for the proposed homes and outline the development process.
The proposed site has been approved in principle, subject to the necessary land and planning approvals. The detailed design has not yet been finalised and a planning application has not yet been submitted.
Feedback from the sessions will help inform the detailed proposal.
