****Suspicious Activity Alert****
There has been a report of men wearing hi-vis vests taking photographs of residents home security cameras and vehicles. When approached, they claimed to be from ABK Security responding to an alarm. This has been confirmed as false as no such alarm exists. The police have been informed, but cannot take action at this time.

Please keep alert to any further suspicious activity, and call the police on 999 to report it if you do see any. If you feel there is no direct threat you can call 101 to report it.

It will help the police if you can provide:
Specific descriptions of the individuals (height, clothing, identifying features).
Any vehicle details (make, model, colour, and registration plate).
The exact time and location of the sighting.

Keep any CCTV footage you capture.

For many years there have been concerns raised about the very large tree limb which stretched across Swanborough Lane. This tree limb (and another higher up) has now been removed. It is a shame to see such a large feature of road into the village removed, especially as it was perfectly healthy. However, it was felt that with the continued dry weather the chances of it failing were increasing and thus it was prudent to remove it on safety grounds.

A message from the organisers of the Hannington Harvest Supper

Village Harvest Supper.

This annual event will be held on Sunday 27th September at 6.00 in the Barn at Manor Farm by kind permission of the Barker family.

The usual hog roast and salads followed by seasonal crumbles.

Everyone welcome including extended family and friends.

Tickets - Adults. £9.50. Children 5 to 12 years old£5.50. Under 5’s free.

Neighbourhood Plan Review

The Hannington Neighbourhood Development Plan (HNDP) was adopted in 2018. Whilst it remains a valid document, it now needs to be reviewed and updated to reflect current planning policy and the needs of the whole parish.

You may have seen in the July Parish Council meeting minutes that a review of the HNDP was approved. To help with this process, the Parish Council is looking for residents from the Hannington Parish (Swanborough, Hannington Wick & Hannington) to join an advisory steering group to help review the current HNDP and provide feedback to the Parish Council.

You do not require any planning experience or specialist knowledge to be part of this steering group. We are simply looking for residents who care about all areas of the parish and would like to help shape its future - whether you have lived here for many years or just a few months.

Hannington Sewage Treatment Works Upgrade

Thames Water is installing a new roadway to the Hannington sewer treatment works. The new roadway will be used initially for an upgrade to the facility. The current entrance, which is just off Queens Road, is not wide enough or safe enough to accommodate the required machinery for the upgrades/future use. The new roadway will connect up with the Nell Farm entrance track and use the existing farm entrance for ingress and egress at the bottom of Nell Hill (planning permission is not required as it is permitted development). The works commence from Monday 17 August and will take 10-12 weeks to complete. The hours of work will be approximately Monday – Friday 7.30 am – 5.00 pm.

Part of bridleway HA10 also uses a section of the Nell Farm access track and Thames Water will ensure that the safety of all users is not compromised. Though, caution is advised if you are using this bridleway during any phases of the works. Footpath HA14 will not be affected by the new roadway.

Once the roadway is completed, works to upgrade the sewer treatment works will commence. There will obviously be an increase in larger vehicles travelling through the village during the roadway works and the site upgrade.

If you notice or have any problems with any of the works, please contact the Parish Clerk who will liaise with Thames Water.
