Take part in our housing repairs policy consultation:
πŸ‘‰ https://letstalk.harlow.gov.uk/housing-repairs-policy

We've reduced average repair times by 90% and brought the number of outstanding repairs to a record low - but we know there's more to do as we Build Harlow's Future.

Our consultation on a new Housing Repairs and Maintenance Policy is now live, giving tenants and leaseholders the opportunity to influence how repairs and maintenance services are delivered in the future. Your feedback will help shape a service that works better for everyone.

For too long, some tenants have been let down by slow repairs, inconsistent service and poor standards.

We have already made significant improvements, but our work is far from finished.

With more than 9,000 council homes across Harlow, we're determined to ensure every tenant and leaseholder receives the quality home and service they deserve.

Because everyone deserves a home they can be proud of.

We're investing in our housing to Build Harlow's Future.

Please be vigilant for Oak Processionary Moth caterpillars in and around oak trees, particularly in the Milwards and Manor Hatch areas where nests have been found.

The caterpillars and their nests contain tiny hairs which can cause itchy rashes, eye irritation and, in some cases, breathing difficulties for people and pets.

If you spot a nest:
❌ Do not touch it
❌ Do not attempt to remove it
πŸ• Keep children and pets away

Safety measures are in place, including warning signs, cordons and specialist removal works.

If you find a suspected nest, report it:
πŸ‘‰ www.forestresearch.gov.uk/tools-and-resources/tree-alert/

Help protect Harlow’s parks, open spaces and wildlife by staying alert and reporting any sightings.

Harlow Council has secured an immediate High Court injunction to halt an unauthorised development on private land at Barrows Farm Cottage.

Late in the day on 11 June we were made aware of the unauthorised development, which it investigated fully the next day.

We found on site construction works had taken place which would require planning permission. The works appeared to be in preparation for the siting of several caravans on the land. No such permission had been sought or granted by us.

The injunction requires all works to cease immediately. Failure to comply with the injunction may result in contempt of court proceedings, which could lead to imprisonment.

More playground upgrades are coming.

We're investing in major improvements at Hester House, Tithelands, Latton Bush Park, Swallows and Willowfield, and we want to hear from the children, young people and families who use them.

Your feedback will help inform the new playground designs and the equipment that will be installed at each site.

Playground transformations are underway.

Work has now started at Glebelands and Potters Field (Harlow Common) as part of our programme to upgrade playgrounds across Harlow.

When completed this summer, Potters Field will feature more than 70 new play elements and Glebelands more than 40, creating safer, more inclusive and more enjoyable spaces for local families.

And there's more to come as we renew our neighbourhoods and Build Harlow's Future.

Your home. Your repairs. Your say.

We're launching a new consultation for tenants and leaseholders, giving you the chance to help shape the future of housing repairs in Harlow.

This part of a wider transformation of our housing service, helping make repairs clearer, fairer and more responsive.

Have your say from 15 June and help us improve services as we continue Building Harlow's Future.
