Thank you to the Harpenden Heroes volunteers who joined the Town Council Green Spaces team on Harpenden Common recently. They conducted glade maintenance, including cutting and raking vegetation growth, which helps to enhance and protect the diversity of this area.

Open woodland glades provide valuable habitat for a diverse range of wildflowers and other wildlife so is an important part of managing the Common. Cutting and removing the vegetation reduces nutrient levels, preventing scrub encroachment, which in turn helps the glade’s wildflowers thrive.

If you'd like to find out more about our Harpenden Heroes volunteers, visit our website or get in touch. You don't need any experience and it's a great way to spend a little time outdoors helping out. https://harpenden.gov.uk/community/volunteering-opportunities
