Last night fire crews from Green Watch πŸš’, Red Day Crewing πŸš’ and Knaresborough πŸš’ took part in a High Rise training exercise at Victoria Car Park in Harrogate. Grassington crew πŸš’ stood by covering whilst the drill took place.

Victoria Car Park 🏒 was a good location to train as we could use the stairwell πŸ‘£ and dry risers πŸ’¦ as part of the High Rise building fire scenario.

Crews successfully followed training procedures and rescued two 'casualties' from level 10

Thank you to Victoria Car Park for allowing us to train there helping us keep our skills up to date πŸ‘©β€πŸš’πŸ‘¨β€πŸš’

πŸ””πŸš’Our crews will be carrying out an exercise at the Victoria Multi-Storey Car Park in Harrogate on Monday 16th February at 7pm - 9pm. Please do not be alarmed if you see several fire engines in attendance.

Yesterday both Blue Shift and Blue Day Watch Crews pumped water from Crimple Beck to our Aerial Ladder Platform (ALP) via a water relay.

The ALP cage operator then practised delivering water from height. The ALP is used at various incidents including property fires, high rise fires etc

The past few days have brought devastating tragedies no firefighter ever wants to face.

On Boxing Day, a woman and her two children lost their lives in a house fire in Gloucestershire. Then on Sunday a child tragically died in a house fire in Kent, and another adult and child were taken to hospital, along with three firefighters who were responding to the incident.

Our hearts at NYFRS go out to the friends, family, and colleagues affected by these events.

Take a moment tonight to hold your loved ones a little closer, and let this serve as a reminder to check your smoke alarms so everyone in your home stays as safe as possible.

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas from all at Harrogate Fire Station πŸŽ„We hope you all stay safe over the festive period...

Air fryers are a popular choice for quick, healthy meals, but they can pose a fire risk if not used correctly. This last year we’ve been to several incidents involving air fryers, follow these essential tips to help you stay safe in the kitchen:

β€’ If you notice a burning smell (other than food) or hear any unusual noises, switch the fryer off immediately and contact the retailer or manufacturer.
β€’ Never pour oil into the air fryer pan. Always follow the manufacturer’s recipe instructions.
β€’ Watch out for hot steam when opening the fryer to avoid burns.
β€’ Wait at least 30 minutes before cleaning and never immerse the fryer in water.
β€’ Keep the fryer and power cords away from hot surfaces, such as electric, halogen or induction hobs even if they’re turned off.
β€’ Always turn off the fryer at the socket when not in use.
β€’ Never leave the fryer unattended while it’s in use.
β€’ Do not overfill your fryer, typically it should be no more than two-thirds full.
β€’ Place the air fryer on a flat, clear surface with at least 5 inches of space around it for ventilation.
β€’ Never use an air fryer under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
β€’ Avoid placing the fryer on tea towels or other flammable surfaces.
β€’ Do not use baking paper or other flammable inserts inside the appliance.
