Hi Everyone - for those of you who don't know us - we're Jane and Holly. We look after the phone box day to day, helped by Peter, who does our DIY.

We hope that you enjoy using the bookswap as much as we enjoy organizing it.

We have a couple of requests to help us out.

1) Please don't pile the shelves too high or put things on the floor. Recently we've had things fall on us and had to take books home to dry out or throw away. If you know that you are having a big clear out, please let us know - we only live around the corner, so can store big donations safely and restock when needed. Similarly, we are not a charity shop collection point - we do not want toys/cushions/bric-a-brac, thank you.

2) Please don't take lots of books at once. Although we don't mind people taking books when they don't have ones to swap, we have recently had whole shelves full taken. If you need books for any reason, please contact us and we'll be happy to help. We have provided books for local care homes, schools and playgroups and sent boxes to Ukraine.

Thanks for reading! And thank you to everyone who already gives the shelves a little tidy whenever they visit.

Happy Christmas everyone !

šŸ’Œ Trying to reunite found letters & a photo with their family

Hi everyone! I recently found a handwritten letter and an old photo in a book at the phonebox, and I’m hoping to return them to the family they belong to.

The letter was sent to/from 54 Melrose Crescent, Hale, Altrincham and is addressed to Maureen. It mentions family members named Tim, Caroline, Charlotte, Steven (age 10) and Christian, as well as places like Alsager, Blackburn, and possibly a village called Colford.

The letters describe family gatherings, garden games, exams, and daily life — the tone suggests a close-knit family. These would almost certainly mean something very special to the relatives of the people involved.

If any of these names or details sound familiar, please get in touch — I’d love to reunite these keepsakes with the right family.

Please share — someone out there will recognise them! ā¤ļø
