Year 7 & 8 Technology Revision Skills in Action

Today, our Year 7 and 8 Technology students took part in a dedicated revision lesson focused on how to revise effectively. They explored a range of revision techniques, including brain dumps, look-cover-write-check, flashcards, mind mapping, and practice questions.

Students worked incredibly hard to identify the revision methods that suit their individual learning styles, helping them build confidence and prepare for their upcoming assessment next week.

It was fantastic to see such enthusiasm, focus, and determination throughout the lesson. Well done, Year 7 and 8 — keep up the great work, and good luck with your assessments!

Young Chef Competition Success!

Yesterday, our students went head-to-head with six other schools in the Young Chef Award, organised by the Rotary Club.

The challenge required students to plan and prepare a balanced, healthy meal on a budget of just £16. Competitors were assessed on a range of criteria, including time management, cleanliness and organisation of their workstations, menu planning, food choices, presentation, and, of course, taste.

Throughout the competition, students demonstrated an impressive range of culinary skills, including filleting, blending, blind baking, segmenting, and grilling.

The event was judge by Callum, a head chef at

We are incredibly proud of both of our students, who worked tirelessly in the lead-up to the event, practising their skills at home and showing outstanding commitment and determination.

We are delighted to announce that HHS achieved an excellent second-place finish, a fantastic accomplishment in such a competitive field.

A huge congratulations to Lucy P and Nevaeh S on their success. You represented the school brilliantly, and we couldn’t be prouder!

After studying David Hockney's landscapes and practicing drawing and painting trees, clouds and foliage separately, Year 8 have spent a number of lessons putting all of this knowledge together to create a full landscape.

Year 8 worked very hard on these and have learnt a variety of painting techniques along the way.

As part of their landscape studies in art, year 8 then practiced drawing and painting trees.
