💃 Grab your dancing shoes. Ceilidh Dance is coming back to How Stean Gorge.

Saturday 17 October, 7pm until late, we’ve got live music from Blind Panic and a night of traditional ceilidh dancing (pronounced “kay-lee”, if you’re wondering) right here at the gorge. No experience needed: the calls are easy to follow, and by your second dance you’ll be doing it like you were born to it.

£36 per person gets you the whole night plus a proper feed: steak and ale pie, wedges, and peas, so you’ve got the fuel to keep going until the last dance.

The numbers are in from our charity duck race event 2026... you helped us raise a total of £518, which we've rounded up to £260 for Yorkshire Air Ambulance and £260 for Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association (UWFRA) 👏

Thank you again to everyone who took part, whether by sponsoring a duck or coming along on the day to watch.

💫💫A night under the Perseid Meteor Show, Did you see any? 💫💫

Taken in Stean, Harrogate, at around 11:50pm on 12 August, just before the peak of the Perseid meteor shower.

I left the camera pointing into a sky absolutely packed with stars and hoped I might catch a shooting star or two. Looking through the long exposures afterwards was half the fun — separating the genuine meteor candidates from satellites and the unmistakable blinking trails of aircraft.

There’s something quite amazing about realising that those tiny streaks of light are pieces of comet debris burning up high above us, while the stars behind them are unimaginably farther away.

Definitely worth staying up late for. 🌌☄️

The Great How Stean Duck Race 2026, over and out! 🦆

Another great morning down at the gorge. The water was a little slower than usual, but every duck made it home in the end.

Congratulations to our three lucky winners, enjoy cashing in those prizes! And a huge thank you to everyone who sponsored a duck or came down to cheer today, it makes a real difference to and . We’re off to count the final total now, watch this space.

BRAND NEW EVENT coming to How Stean Gorge this August! 🦉

We've teamed up with Harrogate Birds of Prey to bring some pretty epic visitors who would love to meet you 🦅

From 9am - 1pm on Saturday, 8th August, we'll be hosting our Birds of Prey event at How Stean Gorge.

The bird of prey experience is completely FREE with standard gorge admission. We just ask for a small donation if you'd like to hold any creatures. All donations go to the Harrogate Birds of Prey for the upkeep of their centre.
