Lizzie popped along to the Roosters Taproom at the weekend to sample their new White Rose Charity Pale, brewed to support Harrogate Easier Living Project. 10p from every pint sold comes to HELP, helping us continue our work supporting older and vulnerable people across our local community.

As for Lizzie’s important role in sampling the beer… it’s a hard job, but someone has to do it! 🍻

We’re incredibly grateful to Rooster's Brewing Co. for supporting HELP and helping us make a difference in our local community, one pint at a time.

So, if you’re heading to the Roosters Taproom, why not grab a White Rose, raise a glass to HELP and enjoy a pint that does some good too!

Drink beer in the name of charity! 🍻

We're saying 'cheers' to the fab team at Rooster's Brewing Co. for choosing HELP as this year's cause to benefit from sales of their White Rose summer ale!

For every sale of this easy drinking pale ale, we will receive 10p! So if you needed another reason to sup a fine Roosters beer, this is it!

Keep an eye out for it on tap over the next few weeks and do your bit for charity in the best way possible!! 🍻

Andy and our volunteers work incredibly hard to support people across our community, often with the little jobs that can make a really big difference to someone’s day-to-day life.

So feedback like this means a lot. 💚

Knowing that someone felt supported, respected and genuinely cared for is exactly why the Help at Home team do what they do.

A huge thank you to Andy and all of our brilliant volunteers for the time, care and kindness you give to people in our community.

🍻 Cheers to community spirit! Round Table raises a glass (and a barrel full of money) for local charities! 🍻

We were delighted to be invited down to The Crown Hotel, Harrogate to receive an incredible donation from the brilliant team at Harrogate Round Table.

Alongside our friends at Time Together Disability Action Yorkshire and Harrogate Samaritans we received a whopping £6,250 raised at this year's Harrogate Beer Festival 🍺

We're really grateful to all our Harrogate & District Community Action, Community Fit - Harrogate and Help Out Harrogate volunteers for bringing such great community spirit to the event. Thanks also to everyone who came and supped and especially to the hard working team at Round Table who continue to host an incredible event for the community each year!

🌷Growing more than gardens... growing community 💚

It's time for another huge THANK YOU to Jane and her customers at Saints' Plant Stall. HELP has received another fabulous donation from the wonderful stall managed by Jane at the end of St Helen's Road.

Over the years, the stall has raised thousands of pounds towards our services, quietly helping us to help those in need of practical support around the home www.hadca.org.uk/HELP

A blooming marvellous effort - THANK YOU! 🌸

HEATWAVE SAFETY FOR OLDER ADULTS 🌞

‼️Extreme heat is particularly dangerous for our older members of our community as the can find it harder to regulate temperature.

Pass these vital tips along to your family, friends, and neighbours:
🚰Drink Before You Feel Thirsty: Sip water consistently throughout the day. Thirst perception naturally declines with age.

⚠️Avoid Dehydrating Drinks: Limit or skip alcohol, tea, coffee, and sugary soft drinks, which pull fluid away from the body.

🍉Eat High-Water Foods: Snack on cold, hydrating foods like watermelon, cucumber, strawberries, and yogurt.

☀️Block the Midday Sun: Keep curtains, blinds, and windows tightly closed during peak daylight hours to trap cool air inside.

Know the Fan Limit: Electric fans do not prevent heat illness if indoor temperatures pass 35°C (95°F). Do not aim fans directly at the body.

🧊Cool Your Pulse Points: Place a damp cloth or a cloth-wrapped ice pack on your neck, wrists, or underarms for fast relief

Move to the Ground Floor: Heat rises. If you live in a multi-story home, set up a temporary living or sleeping space downstairs.

🏡Stay Indoors From 11 AM to 3 PM: Avoid the outdoors during peak heat and UV hours.

🪏Shift gardening or walks to early morning.

🏥Check Your Medications: Some heart, blood pressure, and fluid tablets affect how your body sweats. Check with your pharmacist.
Store Medicines Correctly: Move medications out of sunny rooms into a cool, dry cupboard. Most degrade above 25°C.

⚠️Watch for Warning Signs: Seek air-conditioned public spaces (like libraries) if home is too hot.

🥵 Look out for dizziness, headaches, or nausea.

⚠️ EMERGENCY: Confusion, hot and dry skin, or fainting are signs of heatstroke. Call emergency services immediately⚠️

🌳☀️🕶️ 🧊Today, Andy and Vicky braved the heat to help a client with a much-needed garden tidy through our HELP at Home service.

Life can sometimes become overwhelming, and jobs around the garden can quickly build up. That’s where practical support can make a real difference.

By the end of the day, the garden was ready to be enjoyed again this summer.

A huge thank you to Andy for all his hard work in the sunshine today.

If you’d like to find out more about HELP at Home and the practical support we provide across Harrogate District, please get in touch.
