Wednesday 14th October saw the opening of the annual Ripley Charter Fair, celebrating 775 years of fun, frolics and memories.

Crowds gathered around Shirley Road carpark at 5:00pm sharp, before the Town Crier, Alan Sissons rang his bell and read out the historic charter as of course is tradition.

Councillor Nigel Weaving, Mayor of Ripley was joined by Lawrence Bishton, Vice Chair of the
Derby, Notts, Mid & South Lincolnshire Showman’s Guild as he rang the bell to signal the official opening of the fair.

“It’s fantastic to see another tradition still taking place, and the joy on families faces as they enjoy the fair” Nigel said.

✨FREE health event for people with Learning Disabilities ✨

Ripley Leisure Centre will be hosting a free health and wellbeing drop in event for those with learning disabilities and their families/carers.

Plenty of agencies will be in attendance to office support, guidance and help for those who may need it.

✨FREE fitness sessions, FREE drinks and fruit will be provided. ✨

🎠Ripley Fair is in Town - Opening tomorrow at 5:00pm 🎠

✨It's October which means it's time for the annual Ripley fair ✨

📆Starting tomorrow (Wednesday 14th October), until Monday 19th October, families and visitors to Ripley can expect 6 days of family fun, from white knuckle rides, to families favourites and something for the little ones. 🎡

🔔 Ripley Fair will be officially opened tomorrow at 5pm with a traditional reading of the Charter, followed by the Mayor of Ripley, Councillor Nigel Weaving, ringing the bell to signify the 775th Ripley Fair open. The ceremony will take place outside the Dodgem's ride, located on Shirley Road.

🌺 Ripley Remembrance Poppy Project 2026 - Final Reminder🌺

Wow Ripley! We have had a fantastic response to our knitted Poppy appeal for this year, thank you to everybody who has dropped off some fantastic creations with us...as you can see we've been hard at work with some creative planning...but more on that to be revealed soon. ❤️

👍 We are still accepting knitted and crocheted Poppies until 𝐅𝐑𝐈𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝟏𝟔𝐓𝐇 𝐎𝐂𝐓𝐎𝐁𝐄𝐑 so you have until the end of this week to drop off your creations.

🧶 We also have a small amount of yarn still available for anyone who may need some, please contact us if you need some 🧶

We warmly invite members of the community to knit or crochet poppies to be displayed outside the Town Hall on Ripley Market Place for Armistice Day 2026
and Remembrance Sunday.

ℹ Poppies can be in either red, purple, or white and can be dropped off to:

⏰Our opening hours are 10:00am - 3:00pm, however we do have a post box located on the wall outside, if you need to post.

We politely ask that Poppies are placed into envelopes or bags.

🚔Police Community Catch up today at Ripley Town Hall🚔

Codnor, Ripley and Waingroves Police SNT will be at Ripley Town Hall today for another community catchup.

🚓 Come along and meet your local neighbourhood policing team. They'll be on hand to answer and questions, raise any issues, offer advice or just for a chat.

👍Many people have found these sessions to be helpful, it's a great way to speak face to face with somebody, rather than battle a complicated phone system or waiting for email replies.

🔔They'll be here at the Town Hall between 1 - 2pm today.

It’s October and whilst the leaves drop, and the nights draw in, Ripley will soon be awash with all the lights, colours and smells of the annual fair. 🎡🌭🎯

Families will soon be able to enjoy 6 days and nights of the fair when it begins on Wednesday
14th October at 5pm when the Mayor of Ripley will officially open the fair 🎉
