🌊🌊🌊 WATER SAFETY REMINDER 🌊🌊🌊

As we approach the summer holidays, we know our families will be looking forward to making the most of this glorious weather at our local beaches! We would like to remind everyone to please be wary when in the water! Following these simple rules can help keep everyone safe:

⛱️ Only swim at Seaton Carew, where lifeguards are on duty daily from 10am to 6pm.
⛱️ Only enter the water between the red and yellow flags in the designated lifeguarded area.
⛱️ Always follow the advice of lifeguards.
⛱️ Never swim at Steetley Pier, North Sands or Crimdon Beach due to dangerous currents, deep water and underwater hazards.
⛱️ Keep children within sight and under close supervision.
⛱️ Do not use inflatables in the sea.
⛱️ In an emergency, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
⛱️ If someone is in trouble in the water, encourage them to float on their back and remain calm until help arrives.

The RNLI's "Float to Live" advice is also an important message to share:

🛟 Tilt your head back with your ears in the water.
🛟 Relax and control your breathing.
🛟 Move your arms and legs gently.
🛟 Stay calm until you can call for help or reach safety.

Thank you for your continued support in helping keep Hartlepool's children, young people and families safe.
