Work was undertaken to a kitchen doorset within an HMO property. The door had previously been installed as an FD30 set by the developer; however, it was found to be non-compliant and had failed inspection.

Upon removal of the back mould, inspection revealed incorrect fixings and the use of non-fire-rated foam. The existing foam was removed and replaced with A1-rated backing material, which was then capped with certificated fire-resistant mastic. The frame was adjusted to achieve correct margins, and the back mould was reinstated.

A BS EN 1154-compliant door closer was installed in accordance with the Certifire (CF) door detail, and the appropriate fire safety signage was fitted.

Maintaining compliance of fire doorsets is essential, as they are life-saving products and a critical component of a building’s passive fire protection system.
