For the first of our Crossing the Tees Reader-in-Residence workshops we spent a relaxing evening at Community Hub Central creating zines with Theodore. Telling tiny tales inspired by the materials from our Local and Family History Centre.

Watch for details of the next two workshops coming up at Seaton Community Hub and the Local and Family History Centre in July!

Between the Salt and the Ash with Jake Morris-Campbell

After inheriting his great-grandfather’s miner’s safety lamp, Jake sets out on a powerful pilgrimage from Lindisfarne to Durham Cathedral — exploring what it means to belong in the North East today.

In Between the Salt and the Ash, he uncovers hidden stories, challenges the idea of “left behind” communities, and celebrates the spirit of hyem.

A moving reflection on place, identity, and history.

The final two tickets remain for tomorrow evenings Her Secret Service event with Claire Hubbard-Hall
Tickets can be booked at https://tinyurl.com/d6trz78c

Since the inception of the Secret Service Bureau back in 1909, women have worked at the very heart of British secret intelligence - yet their contributions have been all but written out of history.
From encoding orders and decrypting enemy messages to penning propaganda and infiltrating organisations, the women of British intelligence played a pivotal role in both the First and Second World Wars.
Drawing on private and previously classified documents, Claire Hubbard-Hall rescues these women from obscurity, bringing their gripping stories to life to provide a definitive account of women's contributions to the history of the intelligence services.

This talk will include BSL interpretation.
