Today marks the final day of service for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service On‑Call Firefighter Becky Wallis.

Joining us on 16th October 2018, Ff Wallis has spent the last 7½ years being far more than our ‘Station mum’ or ‘Social events organiser’.

She has been the ultimate professional!

An integral part of our daytime crew, someone who has taken on every challenge, smashed every expectation, and played a huge role in keeping our community safe.

Thank you, Becky, for everything you’ve given to the station and to Hartley Wintney Community Hub.

You leave with our respect, our gratitude and a massive amount of love. ❤️ ###

Today we congratulate Crew Manager Tracy Lenton on his retirement from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service after an incredible 20 years of service.

Before joining the fire service, Tracy served 24 years in the military, and we were fortunate that he brought that experience, leadership and personality to our station. Over two decades he has played a huge part in developing our crew and protecting our community with pride and professionalism.

As an active member of our Co‑Responder team, Tracy has undoubtedly saved countless lives. His commendation from the CFO for leading a critical RTC response is only a glimpse of the difference he’s made to our community, the lives he’s touched and the families he’s helped.

We came together, with past, present and neighbouring crew members along with Tracy’s family on Tuesday night to celebrate Tracy’s career, presenting a traditional leavers Axe and to say thank you for everything he’s given in service to others.

ACFO Rob Cole also attended, and presented Tracy with certificates of recognition from HIWFRS.

Tracy, you leave with our upmost respect and gratitude for what you brought to our station and our community.

Now it’s time to relax and enjoy the fairways, you have definitely earned it.

We were called to well developed fire in a rear garden spreading to 4 residential properties in Hartley Wintney at 02:33 this morning.

Crews worked hard to protect and save people’s homes whilst ensuring all residents were safe. Thankfully no injuries were reported.

Residents were first alerted to the fire by working smoke alarms. Without doubt this helped to ensure a hasty evacuation, resulting in everyone living in the 4 properties escaping unharmed.

The feedback attached means a lot to us. Our team did a brilliant job to suppress and extinguish the fire. Thanks also to our colleagues and friends from Fleet Fire Station for backing us up.

Hartley Wintney Fire Station still has vacancies you join our team as an OnCall Firefighter.

Without filling our vacancies we cannot provide continuous emergency cover within our community.

Please be assured if you dial 999 in an emergency, a resource will be always be sent but it could be coming from further afield.
