Today, Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service launched 'Around The World In 80 Days', our biggest collective charity challenge yet.

Between now and 20 November, we're aiming to travel 25,000 miles (40,000km), the equivalent of a journey around the world, whilst raising money for Fire Fighters Charity.

Whether it's a run, walk, swim, cycle, hike, or any other activity, every mile counts. Staff, families, supporters and members of the public can all take part, contributing miles to support teams from across the Service and helping them climb the leaderboard.

So, our ask is simple: please get involved! Together, let's see how far we can go...❤️

We're about to have another sunny weekend, so we're asking you to...

🧺 Pack a picnic, not a BBQ
🍾 Take your rubbish home with you - especially glass items
🔥 Do not have bonfires in your garden or attempt to set fires outdoors
🚬 Extinguish and dispose of your ci******es appropriately

If you do all that ☝️ then we may not have to attend incidents like this 👇

It’s here, and it’s perfect! Who ever thought that half way through Summer we’d be glad to look out the window and see rain? 🤩

However, the risk of wildfires doesn’t disappear overnight and nor does the huge impact they can have.

Remember…

❌ No garden fires

THANK YOU ‼️‼️

We’ve been overwhelmed with the support we’ve had from our partner agencies and members of the public over the last few days.

It’s clear that lots of you have taken on board our requests to not use disposable BBQs, to not have garden fires, and to be considerate with rubbish and ci******es.

However, as the saying goes, it’s not over yet! We’re expecting another hot day tomorrow so please keep sharing our messages and doing your bit to reduce the risk of wildfires in our beautiful county.

Thanks to our amazing staff who have been working hard yet again today. Our brilliant firefighters on the frontline. Our control room operators who coordinate our response. And our enabling service teams who work in the background to make everything tick.

Our thoughts are with fire service colleagues across the country who are continuing to deal with some large, protracted and simply devastating wildfires.

🏊‍♀️ Even strong swimmers can get into difficulty

Today (10/08/26) We attended a fly tipped rubbish fire which spread to over 10,000m2 of farmland, hedgerows and to the A1 grass verges causing it to be closed for over 2 hours. Since then we have attended a deliberate rubbish fire in woodland adjacent to housing. With the current conditions and the strain on our services resources any sort of fire controlled or not has the capacity to cause serious damage. Please refrain from lighting any outdoor fires whilst these conditions prevail.
