Haslemere Town Council is delighted to announce the appointment of Sarah Nash as our new Town Clerk.

Sarah is no stranger to Haslemere, having previously served as Deputy Clerk from 2014 to 2017. She returns at an important time for the Council and for local government, bringing valuable experience, insight and a strong commitment to supporting local communities.

Town Mayor Cllr Jacquie Keen said:
“We are delighted to welcome Sarah back to Haslemere as our new Town Clerk. Her experience and dedication will be a real asset to the Council and the community, and we look forward to working with her as we continue to support Haslemere, Grayswood, Hindhead and Beacon Hill.”

Sarah said:
“I am very pleased to be returning to Haslemere Town Council and look forward to working with councillors, staff and the local community.”

Parking remains free at Beacon Hill

Seen the new parking machines at Beacon Hill, Farnham Park or Bramley Library car park?

We've had some questions, so we'd like to reassure you that:

• Parking is still FREE
• Parking charges are not being introduced
• Drivers will simply need to obtain a free parking session from the machine during controlled hours
• Resident and business staff permits will be available at a modest cost
• Details of permit arrangements and start dates will be shared before the new system goes live

The changes are designed to improve access to parking spaces for people visiting local shops, services and facilities and were approved following public consultation.

Haslemere Town Council is delighted to congratulate its Town Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer, Lisa O’Sullivan, on her appointment as Town Clerk & CEO at Farnham Town Council.

Lisa will be leaving Haslemere after 16 years of outstanding service, during which time she has played a key role in the Council’s development and helped to shape its reputation as a proactive, community-focused authority.

Haslemere Town Council would like to thank Lisa sincerely for her exceptional contribution to the town and for the many years of service she has given with such skill and good humour. While she will be greatly missed, the Council is proud to see her take this important next step in her career.

Lisa O’Sullivan said:

“It has been a privilege to serve Haslemere Town Council and the community for the past 16 years. I am proud of what we have achieved together and grateful to have worked alongside such dedicated councillors, colleagues, volunteers and partners. I am excited to be taking on this new role at Farnham Town Council and I wish Haslemere every success for the future.”

Back to school? Don't miss out on half-price bus travel 🚌🚌🚌

As families across Surrey prepare for the new school, college and university term, now is the perfect time to apply for a free Surrey LINK card and save money on everyday travel.

The Surrey LINK card is available to young people aged 20 and under who live in Surrey and provides 50% off adult fares on single and return bus journeys that start and/or finish in Surrey. For many young people, this works out at the equivalent of a child fare, helping to make travel more affordable throughout the academic year.

The card is free to apply for. Parents, guardians and carers can apply on behalf of children under 16, while young people aged 16 and over can submit their own application. The card can be used on eligible bus services across Surrey, although it is not valid on Transport for London (TfL) bus routes.

Haslemere Town Council is inviting residents to take part in a consultation on the future of the town's playgrounds at Lion Green, High Lane and the War Memorial Recreation Ground, running from 29 July to 26 August 2026. 🗓️

Yesterday, we were proud to mark Inspector Donaldson Day, commemorating the legacy of a brave local hero.

The event was hosted by Kevin Morris and attended by the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Haslemere, Cllrs Jacquie Keen & Peter Nicholson, descendants Henry, Jean Pelham and Jane Matthews, Cllr Malcolm Carter, Rev Justin Manley-Cooper, and Superintendent Adam Smith and members of the Ceremonial Association of Surrey Police.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in remembering Inspector Donaldson’s enduring legacy.
