Beyond the Bayeux
Artist spotlight: Muco

Muco is a British-Burundian musician whose Book of Voices project reimagines medieval folk music and poetry for contemporary audiences. Performing with voice, autoharp and the East African inanga, his work brings Middle and Old English texts into conversation with a radically different musical tradition.

Muco will be performing a unique reworking of a medieval folk song especially for ‘Beyond the Bayeux’.

🏰 We are delighted to announce that joining us for our ‘Beyond the Bayeux’ event on September 12th, will be acclaimed stage and screen actor, James Purefoy.

He will be playing the role of Bishop Odo, most probable commissioner of the Bayeux Tapestry.

James’ career spans more than three decades. His major roles include Mark Antony in HBO’s Rome, alongside The Following, Altered Carbon, A Knight’s Tale, Fisherman’s Friends, Vanity Fair and High-Rise amongst many others.

🚨Free Workshop Klaxon! 🚨

Phil Davies from Battlecat Studios will be holding a free drop in workshop this Sunday at the Kiosk!

2-4pm

Sunday August 23rd

Join us to create a one-of-a-kind collaborative animation inspired by the Bayeux Tapestry and the story of 1066.

Working from a simple looping sequence, you’ll redraw and reinterpret a single frame, learning the basic principles of frame-by-frame and replacement animation as you go. Each individual drawing will form part of the final film: a story told collectively, one frame at a time. The finished animation will become part of a live projected show, appearing across the ancient walls of Hastings Castle.

No animation experience needed, just a willingness to draw, experiment and add your mark to the story.

For all ages!
