🚒 IMPORTANT MESSAGE – SOUTH STREET ROAD CLOSURE.
We would like to remind residents and visitors to please be mindful when parking around South Street and the surrounding roads while the current road closure is in place.
🚨 Please remember: if you park on the road, leave enough room for an emergency vehicle to pass safely.
A fire engine is considerably wider and larger than a normal car, and what may look like enough space for another vehicle isn't necessarily enough for us.
When responding to an emergency, every minute matters. Poorly positioned vehicles can delay our response and potentially prevent us from reaching someone who urgently needs our help.
While the South Street closure remains in place, we ask everyone to take an extra moment when parking and consider:
“Could a fire engine get through here?”
Thank you for helping us keep access clear and allowing your local emergency services to respond safely and quickly when needed.
Surrounding communities: last night, our crew was mobilised to an emergency incident and experienced extremely restricted access due to parked vehicles. Although we were able to get through, the clearance was very tight for the fire appliance.
