☀️It's warming up!☀️

With the warmer weather arriving, Hatton & District First Responders would like to remind everyone to stay safe and look after yourselves in the heat ☀️

Dehydration can happen quickly, especially during hot spells or when you’re active outdoors. Here are a few simple ways to reduce your risk:

💧 Drink plenty of water throughout the day — don’t wait until you feel thirsty
🧴 Avoid excessive alcohol and caffeine, as they can contribute to dehydration
🧢 Wear light, loose-fitting clothing and protect yourself from the sun
🏠 Take regular breaks in the shade or indoors to cool down
👵 Keep an eye on vulnerable people, including the elderly, young children, and those with existing health conditions

⚠️ Signs of dehydration can include dizziness, headaches, dry mouth, dark urine, and feeling unusually tired. If symptoms become severe or someone becomes confused or unwell, seek medical help immediately.

A little preparation goes a long way — stay cool, stay hydrated, and enjoy the sunshine safely!

We love what we do, however we are currently running very low on vital funding which allows us to continue equipping our responders to enable them to treat patients within our communities. If you can afford to, please consider supporting our vital service:

When we are first on scene (94.3% of the jobs we attend), we don’t just stand around.

We are constantly observing, assessing, calculating, and using our experience to make the best possible decisions for each patient. Sometimes that means hospital care — but often, it means finding a safe and appropriate alternative. Signposting, referrals, or arranging different pathways of care can make all the difference.

Every time we do this, we help free up an ambulance for someone whose condition can’t be managed outside of a hospital setting.

Last month alone, that was the case in 40.4% of the incidents we attended.

To put that simply, our first responders only required ambulance backup in 59.6% of cases- (Blue on the attached chart)

Every other colour is an alternative outcome facilitated by our responders.

But none of this is possible without the support of our community.

Community First Responders are volunteers — giving their time, skills, and compassion to be there when it matters most. Donations help us maintain equipment, fund training, and ensure we can continue to respond quickly and effectively.

If you believe in getting the right care to the right person at the right time, please consider supporting your local Community First Responder scheme. We can only carry on providing this lifesaving service with your help.

Please consider donating- or sharing this post. Awareness is one of the strongest weapons in our arsenal.

🚨HELP EQUIP LIFE-SAVING RESPONDERS 🚨

Our Community First Response team is expanding — more volunteers are stepping forward to protect our community. But right now, we don’t have the funds to buy the essential equipment they need to respond safely and effectively.

This is urgent.

Every call they attend could mean the difference between life and death. Without proper kit, these volunteers are limited in what they can do — and that puts lives at risk.

We are urgently asking for donations to fund:

-Defibrillators (AEDs)
-Medical response kits
-Life-saving equipment
-High-visibility clothing

Even a small donation can make a real difference. Together, we can make sure every responder is fully equipped and ready to act when it matters most.

🙏 Please donate today and help save lives in our community.
If you can’t donate, sharing this post could reach someone who can.

🚑WELCOME!🚑

We want to say a massive congratulations to our newly qualified First Responder, Sam!

Sam spent last weekend learning about the workings of the ambulance service, and how best to assist members of communities we serve in their time of need.

Sam will now undergo a mentorship program where she will respond to calls alongside an experienced responder until she is ready to hit the roads solo!

You may remember, a while back, our focus was a response vehicle.

We have finally reached another massive milestone!

Today, April 1st 2026, we are proud to be Introducing…CF-AIR-1!

This purchase, funded by a government grant, will ensure we can reach as far as Etwall within 15 minutes (+ 3 minutes pre-takeoff time, + landing time.)

Onboard, we carry all the kit you will find in a CFR car, plus an array of magic wands and specialist spell casting equipment so we can continue to perform the miracles that we do.

Although not authorised for emergency response as of yet, we can fit all of our shopping from Aldi in the back, and it looks very nice.

Our newly recruited pilot codenamed ‘Mav’ who is definitely not a fictional character, said:

‘Wait, what does this button do?’

We’re working on it. We’re going to get him on an intense training course with Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, or we may be recruiting very soon.

Have a great day everyone!

*No helicopters have been purchased, and we definitely couldn’t land a helicopter on the co-op’s carpark. We’ll stick to doing what we do on the roads, for now 😉*

💙 Thank You for Your Support! 💙

A huge thank you to everyone at The Craft Club at Tutbury Club for choosing to support Hatton and District Community First Responders this year.

We’re incredibly grateful for the Easter wreath raffle, which raised an amazing £110 for our scheme 👏 This support has come at a much-needed time and will go directly towards helping us continue to respond to emergencies in our community.

It’s generosity like this that keeps us going and allows us to be there when people need us most 🚑

If any other local groups, businesses, or individuals would like to support us—whether through fundraising, donations, or events—we would love to hear from you. Every contribution, big or small, really does make a difference.

🚑 WE NEED YOUR HELP! 🚑

As your local Community First Response scheme, we receive no funding from the government or ambulance service.

We are currently very low on funds after recent purchases of essential equipment, uniforms, and medical consumables — with more still needed to properly equip our next cohort of First Responders.

Are you a local business or individual who cares about making a real difference in your community?

By supporting us, you’re directly helping save lives. Our volunteers are often first on scene in emergencies, providing essential care in those vital moments before an ambulance arrives.

We are looking for support from businesses and individuals who can:
• Sponsor equipment or kit
• Make a donation, big or small
• Partner with us for community fundraising
• Help share our message

In return, we’re proud to recognise and thank those who support us — highlighting businesses and celebrating individuals who help make our work possible.

Every contribution helps us respond faster, do more, and reach those in urgent need.

If you’d like to get involved or make a donation, please get in touch with us directly.

❤️ Together, we can save lives.

⚡️ WE NEED YOUR HELP! ⚡️

After the devastating loss that we incurred whilst responding to an incident in January, we are still desperately trying to raise the funds needed to put a defibrillator into our new response bag. At the moment, this bag cannot be deployed without it — which means potentially life-saving equipment is sitting unused.

With new recruits joining us over the next few months, it is absolutely imperative that we get this sorted as soon as possible. Every call we attend could be someone’s worst day — and having a defibrillator ready to go can mean the difference between life and death.

We are asking our community to please support us in any way you can. No donation is too small — every single pound brings us closer to making this response bag fully operational and ready to save lives.

If you are able to donate, or even just share this post to help us reach more people, it would mean the world to us.

Let’s work together to make sure we have the equipment we need to protect and care for our community. ❤️

💙 A Huge Thank You from your Community First Responders 💙

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to JB Engineering - Hatton for their incredibly generous donation, which has enabled us to replace a response bag that was recently stolen.

This support means far more than just equipment — it helps ensure our volunteers can continue responding quickly and safely when our community needs us most. Acts of kindness like this truly remind us how strong community spirit can be.

From everyone in our Community First Responder group: thank you for standing with us and helping us continue to care for others. 🚑💙

On Sunday, Hatton and District Community First Responders made an appeal for aid for a response kit. To support them following the theft of an essential life-saving equipment, we’ve donated funds to help replace the response bag and vital kit they need to continue providing emergency medical assistance in our community. These volunteers provide an invaluable service—often being first on scene, making a real difference when it matters most, and saving lives. Community first responders (CFRs) are trained volunteers; their acts of kindness make a difference. You can too.

If you’re a local business or resident and can help in any way — whether through a donation or simply sharing their appeal — kindly do. When our community pulls together, it truly makes a difference. Thank you to Hatton & District CFR for everything you do.
