Following a very busy July which saw the busiest month on record for our station, responding to a total of 37 incidents across 31 days, the trend has continued into August with 19 attended to date.
Most notably in this last week our firefighters have formed part of a large scale response to a number of wildfires, working alongside crews from all across the service to tackle these incidents and help protect homes, businesses, communities and the surrounding countryside.
We would also like to express our gratitude to the people and communities that have supported the response during this time, helping to keep access routes clear, following evacuation and safety advice or by simply showing their continued support and understanding.
Even though the weather has become cooler the risk of wildfires remains high and it is still important for residents and visitors to remain vigilant:
✅ Avoid barbecues ot lighting fires of any kind, especially in or near areas that are already dry
✅ Always ensure that when discarding ci******es they are completely extinguished
✅ Pack a picnic or pasty instead
✅ Take your rubbish home
