Haywards Heath In Bloom (HHIB) were delighted to host a tea party for the organisations that took part in the Spring Tree Button Art Competition. Care Homes, Residential groups, The Kangaroos and the Disability Trust took part in an art public
competition.
The theme was spring trees designed from buttons and recycled materials.
These creative pieces of public art were displayed and judged by the visitors to Haywards Heath Town Council’s (HHTC) Spring Festival and the winners were announced at a tea party at the Town Hall where an afternoon tea and entertainment was laid on to thank everyone who took part for participating in this community art project.
Chairman of HHIB Cllr Sandy Ellis was delighted to host the party and would like to pay thanks to all the organisations for creating such beautiful canvasses and embracing the spirit of this fun competition. She says ‘The art work has given us all such pleasure and certainly kindled a passion for the arts through this creative community project.
Special thanks goes to local carpenter Owen Serdiuic who built bird boxes, bee hotels and butterfly motels from recycled wood for the winners and we all enjoyed the entertainment supplied by local singer/song writer Cylvian Flynn.
The generosity of everyone giving their time to help us achieve all of this is very much appreciated as it’s a wonderful way to connect with the community through a shared passion of the arts.’
Any organisations wishing to take part in future projects should contact HHTC for full details.
Conratulations to the winners:
1st place – Maplehurst Care Home
2nd place – Sussex Housing & Care, Oakwood Court
3rd place – Compton House

Haywards Heath Town Council, with support from Carers Support West Sussex is organising a free pamper day for carers in Haywards Heath on Wednesday 8thth June 2016.
There will be wellbeing checks, craft activities, a raffle and a variety of alternative therapies. In addition a light lunch will be provided. The event is taking place during National Carers Week at the Town Hall and is a small thank you to Carers for all that they do in supporting family or friends who have a long term illness or disability. Many carers suffer from stress and find it difficult to take time out from their caring role – our aim is to treat and pamper them for the day. We are restricted to approximately 40 places and advance booking is essential. Contact Fatima on 01444 455694.

Care homes, residential groups, the Kangaroos group and the disability trust have made the most amazing button art canvasses that will be on display at Muster Green spring festival this Sunday 24/4 1.30pm to 4.30pm.
The theme is a spring tree and the Haywards Heath In Bloom (HHIB) committee are asking visitors to the festival to visit the stall and take part in voting for their favourite.
It’s a fun competition and every one of the canvasses are a winner in their own right and would not look out of place hanging in any Art Gallery.
HHIB would like to thank everyone for taking part and hope visitors to the spring festival can join us to say thank you to all the organisations who entered this competition and admire these great works of Art.

Haywards Heath Town Councillor, Sandy Ellis writes - 'It was a great honour to attend the 'Time for a Cuppa' event at the heights in Church Road, Haywards Heath organised by Mr & Mrs Croft.
I had the opportunity to meet the residents and sample some of the excellent home-made cakes on offer.
Raffles and other fund-raising events took place and all the money raised went towards Dementia UK which raises funds to help families living with dementia.
Haywards Heath Town Council are proud to be part of making our town Dementia Friendly and we pass on our congratulations to everyone at the heights who organised the get together and raised a fantastic £417 from the community in Haywards Heath for Dementia UK.'

BUY A BRICK FUNDRAISER!
Have your name or logo endorsed on a brick to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Haywards Heath Town Council is delighted to be supporting this initiative by BAM Construction, the company responsible for building the Waitrose development in Haywards Heath.
Bam are raising vital funds by selling bricks for this new development and money raised will be donated to their nominated charity, the Alzheimer’s Society. Over 400 employees at BAM have attended dementia awareness sessions and are Dementia Friends.

Councillor Sandy Ellis says, “This is a great way to raise funds and be part of the new Waitrose development. I am delighted to bring this to the attention of Town and District Councils,”
Each brick costs twenty five pounds and money is being collected by the Town Council to present as one cheque to BAM Construction on behalf of all the sponsors.
Please contact the Town Council on 01444 455694 if you would like to buy a brick.

The majority of Town and District Council staff and Councillors are proud to be Dementia Friends in order to help build dementia friendly communities.
