Cor it’s a little warm, isn’t it! Luckily there’s plenty of shade to be found at Wakehurst, and here are some of our favourite spots not too far a walk from the Visitor Centre:

🌳 Mansion Lawn - perfect for a shady picnic
💧 Water Gardens - dappled shade and the sound of a gentle stream
🌲 The Pinetum - find a bench under the shade of a Giant Redwood
💚 Children’s and Community Garden - this beautiful bench crafted at Wakehurst is the perfect shady spot come the afternoon
🪻 The Pleasaunce - find this shady spot next to the Walled Garden.

🚶🏽‍♀️Or for a slightly longer route, head down to Bethlehem Wood and enjoy a very shady stroll in one of our temperate woods.

Whatever you do, stay hydrated and remember to stop off for an ice cream or a cold drink on your way out! We’re open until 6pm🍦

Exciting news 🎉🏆 Our Sow and Grow community gardening group has been awarded Living with Disability magazine's Community Club of the Year Award!

We welcomed the team to capture the moment the trophy was handed over the group 🌱 The group meets every month to offer a practical introduction to sustainable gardening for people who may face physical, sensory, psychological, or social barriers to visiting.
