The Crown litter pickers were out again last weekend, starting at 8am to avoid the heat. Thank you Stephen for organising, and Kirk, Fi, Olwyn, Glenn and Neville for gathering 8 sacks of litter from around the village. We always have a bit of fun finding the oddest litter: this time it was a pair of Calvin Klein underpants and a yacht winch handle. If anyone wants to organise a litter pick, Headley Parish Council have litter pickers, high viz jackets and bag holders you can borrow.

It's always important to check the water quality if you are going to paddle and splash in the river!

Headley Parish Council is sponsoring our new Water Testing Site at Standford Ford. The sign has just been installed, so if you want to follow the testing data for this and other sites along the River Wey, follow the QR code. Knowing the ecoli levels is important if you are likely to get wet in or by the river, or even if just your hands get wet!

Following the successful release of water voles last year in our part of the Southern Wey, this year it's the turn of the Northern Wey. The evidence of the successful introduction in 2025 from Haslemere to Headley has made this further release possible. Headley Parish Council has a representative on the River Wey Trust and actively supports their work in monitoring water quality and improving the natural environment.

How Tree Protection Orders work:

We are incredibly lucky to live in an area with so many trees for us enjoy and for the benefit of the natural environment. With increasing pressure from housing development, we must do all we can to protect what we have. Fortunately there is legislation for exactly that – the Tree Preservation Ord...
