On the 27th June 1854, Hedon entered the railway age when Hedon railway station opened as part of the Hull and Holderness Railway. The new line provided a direct connection with Hull, making travel and the movement of goods much easier. The station served the town for over 110 years before closing to passengers in 1964 and freight in 1968.
