On the 27th June 1854, Hedon entered the railway age when Hedon railway station opened as part of the Hull and Holderness Railway. The new line provided a direct connection with Hull, making travel and the movement of goods much easier. The station served the town for over 110 years before closing to passengers in 1964 and freight in 1968.

The 26th June 1830 marked the accession of King William IV (pictured) after the death of King George IV. The new reign led to the dissolution of Parliament and the 1830 general election, one of the last in which Hedon returned two Members of Parliament before losing the privilege under the Reform Act 1832.

💦FREE swimming sessions are back this Summer across our East Riding Leisure centres with pools!🏊
📅From 17 July - 6 September, each centre will be offering two free hour-long swimming sessions a week for children aged 3 - 16 (who live in the East Riding)
(Swim admission policy applies, under 8's must be accompanied by a responsible person aged 16+)
